Passing inspection problem

Hey guys so I’m having a problem were my RDX is tuned and doesn’t have cats but I need to get it inspected to be able to renew my Registration. Here in New York all these new laws passed on emissions it has gotten a lot tougher to do. My tuner also unfortunately passed away so now I’m trying to figure out what I can do, any suggestions?

If you have a compatible laptop you should be able to save your current tune and reload a factory tune with whatever software your tuner used. For the cats, you may be able to get them from a wrecker if you need factory or buy new https://acura.oempartsonline.com/search?search_str=Catalytic Converter&ptid=5808
Many states don't require factory cats after a certain amount of time and some don't require them at all prior an age of car. I live in Washington and is no longer tested. Check the requirements, you may be able to get away with a single high flow. By the way, their equipment can't test if tuned or not. Honda can, but not state testers, from what I've read.

Like you said, all states vary, but I think the most invasive states are still only checking for lack of emissions-related trouble codes (P0420 and the like), emissions readiness from vehicle self-test (catalyst, o2, evap, etc), and visual inspection to confirm car us unmodified (exhaust, intake, etc).

Be careful, as some tunes will disable readiness monitors to avoid throwing a DTC code, but that can still get detected by any standard OBD2 scanner. Hopefully that is not the case with RDX tuning - I know it was like this on a car I had some time ago and ended up having to flash it to stock and throw the cat back on to pass emissions.
