I have an 07 RDX Tech. When I turn the climate control on, both AC and heat, the cooling fan engages. The strange thing is that it turns on for about 30 seconds, then turns off for 10 seconds, then turns on again. It goes on and off on and off. Aside from being a loud and obnoxious fan, it shouldn't be on so much. It's been like this from day one, and I think its a defect. Does anyone else have this issue? None of the other luxury cars have their fans running all the time.

 

normal. mine has been like this from day 1. and so have others on this board...it's been talked about already.

 

Your condensor/radiator "stack" cooling fan probably operates in parallel with the A/C compressor cycling on and off. The A/C condensor is CONSTANTLY heated, radiant heating even with forward motion airflow, via the 190F radiator, reducing it efficiency unless "extra", the blower, meaures are used.

 

Get used to it. It's normal, unfortunately. I bought my '08 RDX on June 24th and have been using the A/C almost constantly due to the summer heat. It does the same thing, noisy on..off..on..off... I'm looking forward to the cooler fall weather soon were I can just roll down the windows, open the moon roof, and drive comfortably!

The car senses where you are in relation to the sun and will put out more cool air if your side of the car is facing it. Is that what you're talking about?

 

No I get the impression he is talking about the engine cooling fans turning on. If you are at a stop light and have the a/c on the things will cycle a lot. Once you start driving or turn a/c off the cycling will stop as there is air flow once again.

 

If you take the climate control off of the automatic setting, it won't do it. You can keep the a/c on with your temp at your desired temperature and select your desired fan speed. No more cycling. It always stays on- the a/c fan anyway.
