Lack of power

Recently I noticed when I'm on the freeway at ~50-60mph whenever I try to give it more gas to go up a hill the turbo guage would go up but the rpm stays the same. I could hear the turbo spooling pretty loud producing a rumbling noise. I can hear the turbo spooling but the car isn't going anyway when I give it gas.

What gear you in? If it's staying in 5th you're not going to get any noticeable power even while in boost. Just enough to get up a slight incline unless it unlocks the torque converter.

If I'm giving it gas shouldn't the rpm guage goes u?

Depends on how much gas you're giving it. The car is stubborn to downshift, it would rather make power from boost than rpm. But yes, if you mash it, the car should shift, especially out of 5th.

Based on this and your other thread, I would look into switching out your transmission shift solenoids. There are a couple threads about this and how to do it - it may improve your shifting performance.

I've noticed my RDX will add more boost first to increase the TQ, add RPM 2nd, and downshift 3rd. It also depends on how far I push on the gas pedal and current speed. The RDX doesn't shift that much in the 45-65 mph speed range. I sometimes have to use the paddles or even sport mode to downshift to get the desired power for acceleration amount. Especially annoying on hilly terrain and switchbacks and 4th and 5th gear sucks all the power away. The RDX won't downshift sometimes to 2nd or 3rd gear depending at speed unless you are in manual mode only.

Hondata for $300+shipping will add more HP/TQ across the entire band and about 33 extra lb-tq peak to the RDX and downshifting won't be needed as much. A little more HP/TQ with the ETS intercooler also (plus a bump up in mpg with either or both added).

I just give it little gas but not enough to make it downshift. If i give it enough gas it will downshift on its own and the rpm and turbo gauge is back on moving normal. It just worries me whenever I am at that point. the turbo makes that weird rumbling noise not sure if that's normal in that situation.

I guess I'm either used to the vibration/noise; but, I think my RDX does the same thing also. I figured it was all the extra TQ from the turbo making its way through the powertrain? Like a low rumble/vibration of the TQ increasing as the turbo gauge goes up. Don't really feel an increase to power/speed compared to the increased noise/vibration level; if I'm seeing the same thing you are. I just notice my speed remains the same as the turbo gauge goes up in those situations (like more turbo boost when driving up a hill; but, maintaining current speed).

Yes! That's exactly what I'm concerning about. Much relief from this problem. Now on to the next problem with my transmission. Thanks for all the input guys!
