Check SH-AWD light and Error 44
Check SH-AWD light and Error 44
2009 RDX about 66K,
Have this check SH=AWD light on. and Error 44.
Battery 12.6V...is this OK?
Changed rear differential fluid.
OBDII reader shows no code.
Light still on,
What should I do next?
And RDX has 6year/70K miles or 7/70K Trans warranty?
Thanks

It is a 6/70,000 powertrain starting when the RDX was purchased, leased, or placed into operations as a long term loaner by the dealership. You have to call Acura warranty with the VIN to see when it might have expired. Since your RDX is a 2009, there might be a chance it wasn't sold until 2010 when all the warranties would have started then.
Here is a Diagnostic Troble code Chart on pg 57 that might help: http://www.atraonline.com/gears/2010.../2010_5_52.pdf
Page 58 talks about a code 44 being "44 indicate a problem with a power or ground circuit to the control module". I don't know what that means in English?
Depending on how friendly your local dealership is, they might goodwill or discount the repair since you are sooooo close.

Thank you mrgold35, The information you linked is very helpful.
my car was sold Jan.10, 2009, so it is out of 6/70K warranty.
I called Acura dealer, they told me $165 to diagnosis the problem.
Have not tried local Acura/Honda specialist.
Maybe I will try to replace a new battery?
I did remove the battery already, but no help.
Thanks

My mechanical technical skills for something like the sh-awd is next to zero. It sounds like a bad control module, a bad connection to a module, or a power issue to the module? It might be a power, grounding, alternator, cable, or battery issue also. When my alternator was starting to go out, every thing else was giving me problems like low battery, x-mas lights on the dash, slow starts, etc... You might be stuck with the $165 diagnosis fee to drill down to exact problem because the code 44 may just be a result of the real problem.
Problems fixed: Check SHAWD light on error 44 - bad relay
Just to report to the forum,
Dealer did check light service $196
error 44 is bad power supply or input
found a relay failed, cost $9.
also the Brake code P16d9 disappeared, maybe dealer reprogrammed the CPU?
Another question, all check light service $165 or $196, are dealer in different location charge the same?
But I am happy now
Thank you all
