iPod soud problems.

It's probably on the FAQ or in a thread somewhere but I can't seem to find it.

When I plug my iPod into the AUX jack in the centre console, I don't get any sound. Is this because I need the iPod addapter that everyone is talking about?

no...an adapter is just a different and better way (like a dock) to connect your ipod.

when you switch from lets say cd, or xm to aux...the volume resets to zero. just check that your volume is up in the car. then if it is, check your ipod volume. (im probably going to assume youve already done both) if you have an absolutely dead connection, your aux jack may need to be replaced. dbl check that when u plug headphones into ur headphone jack on ur ipod that you are getting sound, too.

Related IPOD question - anyone know of an adapter/cable to allow my Shuffle to work in my RDX? Every IPOD, except the Shuffle, has a unique port on it; however, my Shuffle only has the one port - 3.5mm headphone.

Thoughts?

It is my understanding that all iPods and iPhones use 3.5mm headphone to connect to the aux input on the RDX. The only reason to use the connector on the iPods would be if you want to charge it while playing or connecting it to the Acura adapter.

Instead of fumbling around the shuffle controls while driving, you would almost be better off burning a MP3 CD or 2...

Well, there is one other reason which is to use the line-out output from the iPod instead of the headphone output which technically should produce better sound. No idea if you can hear the difference in practice in the RDX.

The other advantage of using the line out is consistency. The line out is always the same volume, so you don't have to find a 'sweet spot' on your volume and try to match it every time you plug your iPod in.

This of course won't work for the Shuffle, so you are stuck with the headphone output.

For those who want to do this, there is a line out adapter (commonly referred to as a LOD) that also has a USB port which would allow you to charge it at the same time (with appropriate adapter).

PocketDock Line Out USB:

Also, if you don't want/need the ability to charge, you can typically find LOD adapters on eBay and elsewhere on the Internet, sometimes for fairly cheap.

(you would use this with a mini-to-mini stereo plug)

If you're talking about the auxiliary jack, then yes you wont get anything on the screen, and you can plug in any audio device into it. But if you pay for the roughly $400 Ipod system that the dealer installs, then you get your entire Ipod on the screen and control it from your steering wheel.
