How to adjust shifter cable? Check shifter sensor?
Hey guys,
How would I go about adjusting the shifter cable? Is the adjuster in the console area by the shifter or on the transmission somewhere? Same question on locating and checking the sensor for the shifter.
I am not sure either one are an actual problem. My dash lamps show proper gear positions and I don't have any problems except once in a while If I crank up, shift to reverse and let off the brake too quick I will get a check transmission notification. I have had it checked and it's something about neutral range sensor. Doesn't happen often and clears/resets by itself quickly.
But tonight I had a new issue. Couldn't get the key to turn to the off position to remove the key. I shifted and turned the steering etc which had no effect. I actually had an issue on another vehicle with the ignition stuff, so I just took the covers off the column and started looking at stuff. The second thing I tried unplugging let me remove the key. One of two connectors by the switch. This one appears to run the key chime and the lighted ring around the ignition switch, and whatever stupid thing that stops the key from going into the off position.
Being the transmission shifts to the proper positions and lights the proper lights in the dash, I don't think it is related to the shifter cable or shifter sensor. But I figured I should try to rule it out. I think this 2007 Tech is just full of electrical bugs.
Also does anyone know where I can go online to look at GOOD parts diagrams where I can tell what the heck I am looking at???
This part I unplugged seems to be sandwiched under the chip key system module thing. Not sure. Could be integrated but have it's own plug.
