Engine fan?

My fan seems to come on quite frequently after only 10 minutes or so of city driving. That's ok I suppose but even after I've parked for several hours, when I get back in, the fan will often come on after starting the engine. Is this normal? The coolant temperature seems to be ok; there are no warning lights coming on, etc. so I've basically ignored it.

RDXControl,

The automatic climate control uses the A/C, even in the winter. And the cooling fans cycle on and off with the A/C. Try this, manually turn off the A/C and the cooling fans won't run nearly as much. I think this will help.

+1

i always manually turn off my A/C everytime unless i am getting crazy humidity causing the windows to fog up. but most of the time it's fine. plus this would save gas too as your compressor wouldn't be running all the time.

Yep, it's the AUTO Climate control that -> A/C Off mode will fix that...

No wonder I was only getting 14 mpg! Ok, 16.5 more recently. Thanks guys.

In other cars I've driven, I rarely used the auto climate control. I just set the temperature and left the fan (for the thermostat), on the first or second setting all the time. In the RDX, the fan resets at the "off" position everytime I turn the engine off. Is there any way to keep the setting?

Just curious, do you have an '07 or '08 RDX? My '07 RDX "remembers" the last setting on the climate control when I start back up. Even manual settings. not sure, but perhaps this is something you can set in the custom MID settings.

Yes. You guys are correct. It does remember the last setting. I always have it on auto; I only tried the manual a couple of times and mistakingly thought the fan setting was lost. But after using manual today, I realize that it does remember. I have an 08'. I've had mine for a month now - I still don't know how to use the voice command GPS, lol. I guess one of these weekends, I'll watch the DVD or God forbid, read the manual. Thanks for the input.

Don't worry, I've had mine for 8 months and I still can't figure out the voice commands! If I say, "Find fast food resaurants", the computer says, "Fan speed 3", lol!

That's hilarious! I should probably start trying to learn some of the advanced features; after all, I'm sure I paid plenty for them.
