Center Console Cover

Has anyone had to replace the center console vinyl cover just under where you rest your arm while driving ?

Any ideas how difficult it is to DIY or what would the cost be to get it done ?

I went to the fabric store and found some vinyl that was an exact color match. The hard part was getting the old stuff off. The backing and glue had deteriated and was a big mess. After I got it cleaned up I put some padding to make the armrest more comfortable and using contact cement, stretched the vinyl over the edge and stuck it to the backside of the upper panel. I did not use any new staples and the vinyl is still stuck after six months. If you pad your console, when you open it, it will hit the passenger seat(won't stay open). I like the extra padding. Do not use the water based contact cement, use the stuff that will make you high. Take photos of the top as you take it apart so you can put it back together. It took two hours for the whole process and over an hour was cleaning up the old glue and vinyl.

I'm lazy...I paid a shop 120 bucks to replace the cover with real leather. They matched the color and stitching, looks fantastic and won't bubble up in 2-3 years like the vinyl.
