Brake Issues
Brake Issues
Did anybody have any issues with their RDX brakes. I have an 08 tech and today it started acting weird. The drivers side front wheel is making a grinding sound when braking at low speeds. The brake pedal is easily pushed to the floor. Then there is a strong burning brake smell at that wheel. If you slam on the brakes shouldnt you feel the abs pulse, because it isnt doing that either.
i've had my brakes make grinding noises at low speed when the a/c is on. never had burning smell though.
check if your brake pads are worn out. if they are worn out, then it may be possible you calipers are broken and it's not releasing when you release the brakes. this basically means that you're constantly applying pressure to the brakes since the calipers are not releasing.

I've definitely had the grinding noises at low speeds on two sets now. 1st set had cracked front pads and replaced under warranty. Second set continues to grind. Dealer says it's just how the pads are made and they are fine. Sounds like BS. No burning smell as of yet.
I bought the car new and it only has 6800 miles. I drove it today to pick up food and it didnt make the noise until I was returning home. My wife was like what the hell was that noise. Im calling the Dealer tomorrow. Ill keep you guys posted.
I went to the Dealership today and they couldnt replicate the sound. I knew that was going to happen. I took the service tech out for a test drive and after a couple of hard stops it did it. The service tech didnt know what to say, except yea there is a problem. He said it sounds like an ABS problem because the calipers, pads, and master cylinder are fine. He said he has to call Honda tech for help. While they had it they replaced my 2nd foglight because of condensation. They said they would call me later today after they hear something from Honda.
Well the story is over. Honda told the service tech it's normal if the pads get overheated they become soft and sticky and that's what's making the noise. I don't buy it because it was normal driving when it started. They said that the OEM 19 inch wheels could be contibuting to the heat build up on the pads. If it continues to happen at normal driving they will have to investigate farther.
