Air blend door?
Air blend door?
Hey, had a new issue this morning... no heat. Fan blowing, coolant fine, etc, just no heat, blowing ambient temperature air.
I got to digging around with the fan on low tapping on things and wiggling wires behind the glove box and on both sides in front of the console. Repeated while changing the temperature setting.
Then finally on the drivers side ahead of the console, I believe the box was greenish in color? I'd have to go look but anyways it finally started actuating and when it did it made a sort of honking noise like something needs lubricating???
I could swear I heard that sound once before a long time ago, searched around here and found there was indeed something known to get dry and need lube? But I can't find it or I am having a brain lapse?
Can you guys shed a little light on this for me? Am I not remembering correctly?
What do I do? How do I get at it? What are my lubrication options?
Ironically I had some issues this summer driving places and then getting back in to leave and the AC not working. Thought I had that fixed but maybe this is related and why that issue was intermittent?
I am guessing this door flap directs air either through, over the heater core or over the AC coil?
Anyways need to fix this cause I am going to need heat in the morning and AC in the afternoon for a little while as the seasons change.

The blend door is on the driver side footwell & the passenger side footwell since we have dual zone climate control. They squeal when changing temperatures then you need to bear the noise until they get stuck like yours have or get new ones. Some people lubricate them & there is a thread on this a sticky post if I believe in the repairs section.

good luck
So I have this problem again. So I dug in a little deeper this time into troubleshooting.
I could hear sounds when changing the temperature settings. So I thought oh no I have a leak and my heater core is full of air. But that seems not to be the case.
I unplugged the actuator on the drivers side and was confused for a while when I still heard sounds when using the buttons but still no heat. Then I thought duh, dual zone climate control which we don't really use. So I unplugged the right side and figured out the sound I was hearing was actually coming from the right side.
I would assume the driver side mix motor/actuator is dead. But then if I think about it more, why does the passenger side not warm up when using the dual zone. I would think there are two blend doors in a system like this, one for each side?
I am starting to think I don't know how this works now and either a single door is stuck or both doors are stuck and one side is still trying. Or both mix motors are shot.
Any ideas on how to determine if the door or doors are stuck or if one or both of the mix motors are shot?

I have been thinking take the drivers mix motor off. Plug it back in let it dangle and see if it can move if not attached. Also see if I can move the mix door linkage on the blower housing by hand while it is off.
Think that approach will work?
I was not really wanting someone to have had to go into the housing before. But at the same time hoping someone could tell me if there are 2 mix doors or 1 and if 1, explain to me how the right side could possibly be moving but not putting out warmer air.
I really hope I don't have to replace the right one. I can't even see it. I blind felt for it and unplugged it when I was trying to figure it out. It is tucked up in there out of sight and tight. Even more so I really hope I don't have to remove half the inside of the car to open the housing and get at stuck mix doors. That would suck very badly.
