Hello. I have a 2011 RDX, 59000 miles. For the past few days, once a day, it won't start. It'll turn so that the radio and air come on, but it won't crank. It doesn't even turn like it wants to start; just silence. I wait a few minutes and try again, and it slowly starts. Got the battery, starter, and alternator tested. They all tested fine. Cleaned the clamps to the battery and it still messed up. We are thinking that it may be the negative wiring, on the other end. Any suggestions? Also, does anyone have a diagram of where the wires connect to? We have searched the internet and came up empty. Will take off the wheel and try to see, but would be nice if we knew. Thanks for your help everyone!

 

What kind of testing did you do on the battery? I only ask because many people just poke it with a volt meter without checking the voltage drop once it's actually under load.

 

I actually took it to the parts store and they tested it for me.

 

Its the starter.

I had an intermittent issue as well and the dealer couldn't diagnose it for a couple days and trips. Initially they tried to tell me the cables were loose. They weren't. I even went and got a shim for the posts on my Optima just in case. It was draining my battery (but charge has come back fine).

Finally after a few different techs they pulled their heads out and replaced the starter.

Fine ever since.
