100K service interval

What's required at the 100K mile serivce interval.

Plugs
X-fer case & Trans oil

What about timing belt or is it a chain on the RDX

TIA

RDX has a chain, so no need to replace. But I would probably just go by whatever the MID tells you to do.

schen72,

thank you for confirming. I thought this was the case as I had researched it earlier as the car apporached it's 100K mile birthday. I was taken aback when the dealer told me that the code on the dash (4) was for a timing belt change at a cost of $1300 smackers. I thought that the code (4) was for plugs.

Cheers,

SMG

Yup, a "4" is the code to replace spark plugs.

My 07 RDX is at the dealership right now for it's 100k A14 service. The "4" involves spark plug replacement and a valve clearance check. When I called around price quoting the Acura dealers in my area, they all said that it would also include a replacement of the outer belts (accessory and drive belts were two terms I heard).

A "4" service with the belt work was around 400 at the 3 placesI called. I ended up having the dealer I bought it from just do the plugs and valve-check, skipping the beltwork, for 270+tax. They'll still inspect the belt, but they're not to replace it without calling me.

The 3 places I called had done a "4" service on an RDX a total of 1 time between them, so it's relatively uncharted territory for the service depts.

You may want to check the timing chain tensioner to avoid any slack in the chain. Should be auto-adjusting, but obviously you don't want a problem with this. (Just repeating some experiences from others on the TSX side)

I just purchased more then likely my last car I plan to buy, It's an Acura 2007 RDX with 86545 miles on it. I'm just about ready to retire and I'm thinking of taking your advice and having everything serviced on the car. My reason for it is to keep my investment sound, any deviation on the maintenance service performed may cost me more in the long run. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

At 100k I would definitely replace the accessory drive belt on any car- that's plenty of miles for that part to risk it breaking and causing a major issue. It should only be a $30 part and labors should be cheap -30 mins.

I would also recommend power steering fluid - maybe just a simple drain with a turkey baster out the top, refill, start car, turn lock to lock, drive a bit, then repeat a few times to keep it simple - maybe someone else can chime in.
