08 - Rear Window vibration/rattle
08 - Rear Window vibration/rattle
Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the left side rear trim panel? I have a vibration that is around the rear window that I can never "duplicate" when taken into the dealer for repair. I want to simply pop off the panel and secure all the "stuff" behind it, as I am sure something is simply loose back there. Thanks
Does anyone have a service manual that describes this process? I can free up most of the trim panel but have trouble around the seatbelt area and around the actual window area up to the foam roof liner. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It is the latch from the rear seat. See this post:

No, I wish it were...the vibration continues even when my seat is down
. It all started when I had the car in for a speaker that was vibrating when I had talk radio on. They then went ahead and applied the EPT (Tape) to all the speakers and I am assuming when they opened up the left rear side, they didn't secure something. I've pushed in all the walls, etc in case it was simply one of those "push pin" type fasteners and that hasn't worked either. It really vibrates in cooler weather.

Oh, I see. You are most likely correct, something is loose as a result of them messing with it. Take it back. I wish I would have taken mine back (When they fixed a leak in the rack, they got glue on the paint and dirt on the headliner). Make the dealer do it!
I've had it in twice and I am getting tired of bringing it in and not being able to repeat since either the temp is higher or the roads around the dealer are smoother (they actually are). They already must think I'm nuts. I figured it would simply be quicker, more convenient and I'd do a better job, if I just had an idea of how to unconnect that particular area. I actually viewed/used the installation instructions for the rear sensors but that is for the right side and the take-apart instructions don't extend high enough.

You've probably removed the two cargo hooks at the bottom already.
If it's hanging up at the window area; that's likely the side hanger that the lid rests on. Pry out the two small bolt covers under the side hanger, remove those two bolts and remove the side hanger.
There are two external (visible) clips at the floor and one up by the seatbelt. Pull out those clips, then pull the trim panel away to pull out the remaining internal clips. Look for hooks at the top front where the panel hooks into the C pillar trim. Pull back to release these.
Pull the seatbelt out through the slit in the seatbelt retractor cover. Now the panel should be free. Move it away just enough to reach and disconnect the cargo light.
Installation is the reverse. I believe you'll have to tuck it back in under the rubber door gasket when it goes back on.

Thanks this helped. It still gets hung up around the "airbag" area on the pillar between window and door a bit. I was able to pull it out enough to get some foam tape in there. This morning I didn't really hear much, but it is warmer and it was raining so it was kinda noisy. Now that I know how to get in there though, I am confident I will solve this problem myself!
