Unplugging the ECU
Unplugging the ECU
Today I sent in my ECU for the Hondata reflash, but had a few issues unplugging the bloody thing. I saw the little tab on the bottom of the wire cabling, I even figured out that I should push it away from the pin-but when I tried tugging the cabling away I got no love. By accident, my big clumsy fingers grabbed the bottom of the plug on either side of the tab, and that weird, u-shaped ring of plastic flipped up easily, allowing the plug to almost fall out. Is this only common on the harness for the 2011? I've never seen a plug lock into place like that: I might've broken the damn plug, as hard as I was pulling on it. In any case, the reflash is due back to me possibly Monday night, definitely no later than Tuesday...I'm looking forward to it.

With all the how to videos out there, I'm surprised there isn't one for the ecu removal. Heck that's how I learnt to remove the cabin filters on all 3 of the family vehicles. So if anyone knows of one or is into making one please post it. The mechanically illiterate of us, mainly me would greatly appreciate it.
Cheers.
Cheers.
If I could've figured out how to hold my phone, press the tab outward and lift up the U-shaped lock at the same time I would've posted it, but that requires 3 hands. Really, if you're standing at the left front tire looking down at the ECU you can see the tiny tab in the center of the long side of the plug, with a thin plastic ring outside it. Just push the tab far enough towards the engine to release the ring to pivot up towards you and the plug almost falls out of the ECU...
