Hondata reflash!!!

Just got the reflash to my 2010 Rdx. Had it done to my 2005 tsx and liked that But damn!!!! On the Rdx like whole new car. Just loves hwy pulls!!!! I don't know why I waited so long. If ur waiting go do it walk to work if u have too. Only engine work I've done and well worth it. Feels like how my evo used to pull on hwy. Questions ask it was easy just pull ship put back in just make sure u have ur radio and navi code for when u unhook battery.

The RDX really needs the 6AT or 6MT with the Hondata reflash. I think Acura should skip the 6AT and go straight for the 7AT or 8AT (don't want to wait another 10 years for the 7AT). I still haven't learned how to uses the paddle shifters for max acceleration without looking at the rpm gauge so I just use the paddles to downshift only. I tossed in a regular K/N air filter just to help the RDX breath a little better. I don’t think any other mod (other than a down pipe) will return the same bang for the buck like Hondata.

Is you 10 RDX awd or fwd? I would like to see if you see an improvement on mpgs. I get about 1 mpg combined improvement per tank and sometimes up to 26-27 mpg avg on straight hwy depending on speed (I reset the B-trip computer once I turn on the cruise control to check hwy mpgs).

Mine is awd I won't buy two wheel if awd is there. I get shitty mailage and I two only use paddles to downshift. If u try really use them to slow to when u push to when it shifts. I need to take a hwy trip where I don't drive like an ass and see what mpg is around town I get high 16s low 17s. I use my b trip for my oil life and what kinda mileage I get over an oil change. My buddie has 07 stock and he's gettin great mileage yet he dosnt drive hard. So who knows.

Does anybody know if Hondata dealers will ever get the capability of doing the reflash in house? For someone like me living in NC the whole removing the ECU and mailing it has prevented me from doing the Reflash

that is what i was wondering. it is annoying to take it out and ship and wait. and then u go to a dealer for a oil change/service - they reflash your ECU with new release and u have to do it all over again. pay money...... was way more convinient in VW/Audi/Porsche and recent BMW cars. OBD flash, 15 minutes. and most local shops wont charge for reflash if dealer erases the original tune.

^ unless you live in Cali near them there is no way to have a dealer do it. they have to send it in.. you can buy another ECU and send that in to have it reflashed if you are worried about down time.. it costs more..

downtime is about 3-4 days normaly if you have to send it in and do rush back..

Does anyone know how you can tell if your dealer did a reflash to the "latest ECU build"? I recently had an oil change done by Acura...I'm curious to know if I still have the Hondata reflash or if they've written over it.

^ do a redline test.. in sport mode it should redline at 7200 with the reflash. compared to the stock which is 6800 thats a dead give away.. dont do it cold though have to do it warm otherwise vehicle will lag and not want to redline

I think you need to make sure the tranny shift lever is in "S" to do the 7200 rpm redline test using the paddle shifters (sportshift mode). If you have it in "D", the tranny will still only go to 6800 rpms.

i dont think that if you do an oil change that they have to reflash your ecu every time. even then, im sure that since you are paying for copywrited work, i would assume that hondata would have locked the ecu from being overwritten or the map being downloaded. regardless, changing the ecu would have voided your powertrain warrenty and i dont think they would be worring about reflashing it anyways due to not being obligated. you have to remember that when they usually have a updated ecu map they want to load, is usually due to fixing the tune for a particular area, now that you have a base map loaded on it, there would be no need to have it reflashed by the dealer.

Glad to hear all these great reviews. That settles it, I'll do the reflash as well.

Just curious, how many out there opted for the separate ECU purchase?

Have you had any headaches with the dealer about the reflash?

I guess a better question to ask would be are there a lot of recalls or reason to take the car to the dealer for the reflash to become an issue?

Unless you tell the dealership about the reflash, 99.9% of the dealerships would not have a clue. I decided to ship my ECU to Hondata. My garage is all ready full of 2 sets of rims, 2 sets of floor mats, 4 coil overs, 4 springs, and RSB from my TSX and RDX. I did not want more OEM spare parts to worry about.

I would just make sure there are no future recalls for ECU reflashing with the RDX. I always tell them "Don't do any extra work until you call me" when I take the vehicle in for any type of service.

No sticker on my ECU. I had my ECU reflashed last year right after they dropped the price to $295 (maybe they ran out). The sticker might of been included in the package back to the install place? I would still leave off or peel off the sticker.

I didn't have a hondata sticker on my ECU also and prefer not to have it on in case I needed to bring the car back to the dealership for a check up.
