Feeling sluggish - motor options?

I've feel my RDX's oomph is not what it used to be. Considering I got the vehicle at 106k miles, it wasn't exactly new but it still felt crispy. Maybe I've gotten used to it, but since I took a ride in another RDX the other day it confirmed my suspicion. My baby seems tired.

The other RDX was an 07 with 60kish miles and had a CP-E intake and evo exhaust with cat delete.

I've got hondata and the KN typhoon. His exhaust is probably a big reason as to why it picked up so much faster, but will a straight pipe(cat delete) to an EVO exhaust produce as much HP as hondata?

I digress... My main interest is in looking at my options for sprucing up the motor. I've been looking at blocks on ebay and there are a few blocks ranging from $1700-1900.

Before going all out and getting a block, I'm sure a top end rebuild or some sort of rebuild is possible for this engine, yes? If so, what would be the best thing to replace - pistons/rings? My next question - what else? Is there a larger piston/ring set that should work with the K23A1 I can get and bore out my block to fit? Last time I went through a top end rebuild was on a YZ80 and I was 14 with my Dad. I don't exactly remember what else we did.

Thanks in advance.

seems like you're content at modding the problem away instead of trying to find the solution.

seems like a silly approach.
and I dont think there is anything you can do to the engine; aside from tune/bolt on's

I may have confused my intention with referencing the mods. I'm not looking to mod my way to a solution.

Rebuilding top/bottom ends on motors is a tried and true practice to fix old, slow or problematic motors. The oversized pistons are OEM and available simply if the sidewalls are worn.

Since I'll be tearing the motor apart, my question "what else?" was in regards to what else should I look at/replace while I have the motor apart?

but it doesnt make sense that your engine is tired.

seems as if you're making an excuse to build the engine with nothing more than factory parts....

at 300k miles; the engine is just being broken in.
and in fact doesnt lose steam like you seem to think it does.

if there is something wrong; the problem will still be there even after your rebuild.
so, you're gonna throw a whole bunch of money into it to rebuild it(when it does not need to be) and then to have the problem still exist.

seems like a waste to me.

if you really think its a compression problem; have a compression test and a leak down test preformed.

Thanks, I guess I forgot I'm dealing with a honda motor. This makes sense so I won't pursue the rebuild. I've been meaning to get a compression test, I just need to find someone in the area or do it myself. I wasn't aware of the leak down test, I'll look into that as well.

that sounds a lot better than throwing money at it and hoping it fixes your problems.

with the leak down test and compression test; you would know if something wrong with cylinder walls/pistons, etc.
