ETS Intercooler - Gasket Needed?

Installed the ETS intercooler upgrade today and I noticed that there is no notch for the gasket in the new unit for the air bypass unit.

Did anyone find this caused issues? I've gotten an Emissions error message already and I'm wondering if it's related. I didn't remove any vacuum hoses in the install either.

I actually just got mine 2 days ago and ran into the same issue. I bought a 2" wide, thin rubber washer from Ace and trimmed it with a razor to match the hole. Then I threaded both bolts, slipped the washer in and tightened it all up. 100 miles later, so far so good.

Excellent, that's what I was thinking. Thanks!

On another note, do you notice any performance increase or change? I've got the Hondata flash as well which is great, but since the intercooler install mine feels a touch less powerful now.....maybe it's just perception though....

Not less powerful, but a little less responsive on the turbo spool...

Nor did mine (I bought used), but that is good to know in case the rubber washer fails down the road.

As for power difference, I feel a little more torque relative to the amount of boost from the turbo. Response seems about the same. However, my stock IC had a *lot* of bent fins. If yours was in good shape, you may not see quite as noticeable difference.

Thanks. I beaded with RTV and noticed one of my hose clamps was loose. D'OH!

Runs like a dream again.

Notice a more noticeable increase in response, power, and mpgs during the winter months when the temps averaged around 40-50 degrees. Everything seems to be a little down on power during the summer with temp +95 degrees average (going to be +100 today). Still feels like an increase in power compared to reflash without ETS intercooler with the butt dyno.

Yeah, I think that is why we need a front mount for those hot stop and go days.
