2012 vs 2011 rdx

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum and am looking to purchase a 2012 Acura RDX. I have also been looking at the 2011 ones as well and have noticed that the intake is only available up to the 2011 model. Does anyone know any more info about this? I'd like to buy the newer one but would like to be able to add a Short Ram intake, ETS Intercooler and downpipe in the future.

Thanks in advance

I'm assuming both modes are sh-awd? The 2010-2012 RDX are identical other than model year. I would look for any in those years if it has maint records, well maintained, stock, and 1-2 owners if you prefer that body style. I like the sh-awd version better than the fwd because of the all weather handling aspects.

You might need to add Hondata reflash or FlashPro to get the most out of the performance parts you will add later. I just did the Hondata reflash+ETS Intercooler+Hondata heatshield on my 08 RDX back in 2010 and it has been running flawlessly since (+147,000 miles now). I don't know the reason why and just guessing there was a minor change in the ECU for the 2012 RDX and the regular Hondata reflash can not be used (only 07-11 RDX for regular $295 Hondata reflash). FlashPro ($695) can be used for all model years; but, I would still call Hondata to make sure there isn't anything about the 2012 ECUs with certain serial numbers.

Just adding the downpipe seems to give almost the same gains as the reflash. There is a HUGE restriction after the turbo with the 1st OEM Cat that is replaced with the downpipe and that frees up a lot hp/tq and mpgs.

thank you for replying mrgold35.

So I ended up purchasing a 2011 Acura RDX SHAWD with the tech package which was in good condition. I've got the flashpro with the stock (upgraded) tune, ETS Intercooler and am getting the RV6 downpipe with high flow cat installed this week. I am looking to also install the DW800 injectors and get a tune. I've made a post asking questions about it but no one seems to want to reply to any of my posts. Since I bought the car, I've changed the spark plugs, changed all fluids and its been running flawless. After the injectors I'll probably do exhaust and leave it at that.

It is kinda hit or miss with activity on the 1st forum. Most 1st gens are +100,000 miles on average and probably on the 2nd-4th owners by now. All the attention is on the +19 RDX for now. I'm even thinking 3rd Gen RDX or 18/19 sh-sh-awd MDX in the next 1-3 years down the road.
