2011 vs 2012 rdx
2011 vs 2012 rdx
So , we're in the market for an RDX.
As far as we know, the two different years are completely identical.
We can get the 2012 SH-AWD for 45K, but we can get the 2011 Tech for 43K
Both prices taxes and stuff in.
Good deal? Which to buy? 2k more for a 2012 with the 25 months maintenence? Or save 2k on a better equipped car and pay maintence ourselves?
Tryin to get the dealership (Burrard Acura) down to 42K, they're pretty firm on 43k though.
Thoughts? Any comment would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Careful, Don't
...Pay too much.
Using the OTD price makes it impossible to compare price.
Get the price of the vehicle only and use that.
Taxes and fees vary.
From Edmunds and guessing what your "all in" price that includes taxes, title and lic fees, it looks like that is way high for either the '11 or '12.
Even if you paid full msrp of $38000 for a '12/Tech, say ~$3000 taxs/fees, your total vehicle price is $41000.
Look at truecar.com for prices in your area, in my area the '12 Tech goes for ~$37000 plus ttl.

From Edmunds.com
'12 SH-AWD W/Tech
Inv-$35,323
MSRP-$37,995
'12 SH-AWD W/O Tech
Inv-$32,481MSRP-$34,895

Yep, I'm in canada, OTD price was 42k offered which meant it would be 37.5k before taxes. Invoice for a 2012 tech is 38k ish.
But they won't take 42k, they said 43k would be minimum. Which makes it just over invoice before taxes.

I bought a 2011 RDX SH-AWD w/ Tech package back in June and paid roughly 38k including taxes and fees (in the Boston, MA area) I also got them to throw in the cold weather package and wheel locks. So i guess the price you pay will depend on your area. It was brand new with 20 miles on it. I love everything about it but I still want a little more. When they announced the specs for the 2013 RDX I immediately wanted that one.
The Turbo is great to have and the power is there when you need it. Plenty of space inside for my growing family. A few of the things I wish it had that I think the 2013 is going to have is the power tailgate, HDD media system, and of course a V6 option.
With that said the 2011 and 2012 are exactly the same so if you could save a bit of money why not. Take a look at Acura's website for the 2013 RDX and you might decide you want to wait. A few difference will be the removal of the SH-AWD system in the 2013 model. They have replaced it with the AWD system from the Honda CRV I believe. Also I believe the fuel efficiency will be improved a little. The interior and exterior will change as well and in my opinion it looks good (more refined).
Any way, this is probably more info than you needed but if I were you and I knew what will be coming out soon I would wait for the 2013 RDX to come out and get the AWD V6 model.
