Interior LEDs

Hi everyone. I tried the search function several times but could not find what I was looking for.

I am trying to find the exact LED sizes to replace the interior lighting; specifically the front and rear dome lights, step courtesy light, and the license plate. I am leaning towards buying the LED from from Super Bright LEDs since they seem to be mentioned a lot within these forums; so the exact part numbers would actually be better!

I just want to avoid ordering the wrong sizes and going through the hassle of returning and such, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

those lights are bulbs, with exception for the 2 blue beams onto gear shifter

you can consider buying led bulbs from ebay which has a package of 7 different bulbs for $40 shipped

Code:

Has anyone installed these? Are they noticeably superior to the stock lights? Are colors really useful?

No it just looks cool and different. I have LEDs in all my interior lights. They are more like HID color temps if not higher. The usable visible light is actually less than the stock lights. But I still like them cause they look different, more high tech, and the light is good enough.

Is there an LED-replacement for the trunk light that can (safely) add more visibility to the cargo area? I'm not a fan of adding extra 3rd-party lights as a solution.

I don't think so. The problem with the trunk light is mainly the location of it. They should have put one on the roof, but I understand why they didn't because of the rear cargo cover. I put the brightest LED light I could find back there, and it didn't help at all. I also have the rear cargo liner which doesn't help any for lighting purposes....

Well what prompted me to look for the LEDs on the RDX interior was because of the pictures I saw from a thread in the TL forum.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...4&page=2&pp=25

It kind of gives you a good idea on how it would look on the RDX. Besides the whites for the dome and map lights- I was also thinking of using blue LEDs for the step courtesy lights- which I thought is a great subtle look to go along with the bluish dashboard lighting when you open the doors.

And though I have been busy at work and have not really started changing the lights, the link above also has some helpful tips on how to carefully open the light enclosures and whatnot.

Which ones do you have? Do they a pkg for the RDX?

I forget where I got mine at, it was about a year ago. I'll do some digging and see if I can find it. All the places pretty much sell the same stuff though.

At the time there was no RDX package, but it could be different now.

You can buy evrerything you need at superbrightleds.com.

My last order:

Quantity: 5
Product: WLED-WHP Pure White High Power $ 4.95 (each)
Options:

Quantity: 1
Product: 3022-x9 LED Festoon bulb $ 2.95 (each)
Options: White 2.00

The festoon bulb is for the dome light. The WLEDs replaced the two reading lights, the two courtesy lights at the bottom of the door and the rear cargo light. I also had previously used the WLEDs to replace the license plate lights.

They look bad ass at night.

While LEDs offer a cool look and feel, both figuratively and literally, compared to incandescent bulbs, many LED replacements, at least in flashlights, tend to be lower lumen output than the incandescents they try to replace. While battery life goes way up, the quality and brightness of the beam is often compromised. How are these LEDs in comparison to the OEMs? Weaker?

Thanks.

A bit weaker for the dome light. I think the map lights and courtesy lights may be brighter, but that may be just my brain telling me a bluish light is brighter than a yellow light. Definitley plenty bright enough for me.

Wow, thanks!

So the 9 LED festoon light is dimmer than the incandescent? Who would have thought!?

The WLEDs are way, way brighter than the individial LED's in the festoon light. Plus, I think the dome fixture has a reflector that does nothing with the LED light since they are all on one side.

Really, though, it is bright enough for me and it makes all the interior lights match.

Will replacing the incandescent bulbs in the cabin with LED's screw with the dimming feature? Or will the LED replacements still dim smoothly and properly?

They won't dim as smoothly they have a threshold of power needed and once that the car stops giving it the power needed to light up it turns off,

So you will get a bit of fade (not smooth thoe) and then it turns off.

I bought replacement LEDs for the Map / Dome & Trunk light as listed above by brizey.

2 things. The dome light is not bright at all. IMO it was a waste of money. I have a JDM Luxor LED dome light in my Fit and that is a lot brighter than that festoon bulb.

looks like this:

Also, with the LED bulbs in the map lights. If you get into the car and start it and the map lights have not faded out yet, they will blink on and off a couple of times....

JUST my on my purchases from superbrightleds

Has anyone done the license plate LED conversion mentioned near the top of this thread? I'd be curious to see some pictures.

Also, I seem to recall reading in the TL or other thread about overheating occurring in the license plate bulbs because of lack of circulation. Anyone have any experience with this?

Yep, definitely worthwhile to do. Overall, it only took me about 10-15 minutes to change the license plate lights. I just followed directions from the car manual to get access to the back.

Looks nice and bright at night and have had no problems with it since I installed it back in September.

Does anybody have any tips for remove the map-light lenses? I got all the other lights (courtesy, dome, cargo) without problem, but the map lights I feel I might mess up while trying to remove. I have a small screwdriver and a thin file, but couldn't seem to get a good angle. Thoughts?

Well thanks to the contributors in this thread.. here are the pics of the parts listed above from superbrightleds.com in my 08ASM.

I messed with the exposure times to give a better feel of them in person. The backseat looks bluish but they are white lights all around and look great!

JLR I was just looking at their leds. Did you replace all of the interior bulbs? How does the rear dome led look? What number of LEDs are in the door and the map lights? 4-6-8 leds per bulb?

Have any pics to share?

UPDATE:
Okay, I saved my TSX blue LEDs and tried them in the RDX. The 9LED door lights worked in the RDX doors so no woory there. However, the dome light in the rear is very weak with 4LEDs in the bulb. Not much light coming out. Any suggestions?

Also, I thought I read that the map lights were the same T10s that are in the doors. I tried to pull out the map light, but it wouldnt come out peacefully. Any tips?

I've bought from Jacky at ExtremeBrightLEDs - you can find them on Ebay. They have 9-LED festoon bulbs I use for my Civic and the RDX. They are very nice - lifetime guarantee.

I just ordered them this weekend, I'll put them in when they get here and post some pics. By the way, I'm new here and don't have access to the photo gallery or any photos. Does the admin have to give me permission? I would like some rim ideas along with other aesthetic mods, but want to see some photos. I also ordered the LED driving lights in the HID color and the spider tail lights. I can't wait for them to arrive.

I read in another post you have to have 3 posts (which you just now have) to recieve PMs. So it might also follow true for other options.

Anyone know how to take out the map light bulbs? I tried and it didnt want to come out.

Yes, the festoon LED is in the dome light. It's quite bright to the point you can easily read by it. these blue lights give an interesting glow to the taupe and trim at night.

There's an LED installation thread over at the TL forum, complete with pics. The lenses are very easy to remove using a thin blade between lens and frame, and they just snap back in.

Yes, I've replaced that type of bulb, it's easy to do. But I was wondering which of the two types would be best for the rear dome light in the RDX. Festoon is round with metal ends, the other is a flat panel with multi lights.
