Question about Navigation coverage and upgrades since 2007

Hi,

I am looking at map coverage of various Acura navigation DVD releases:

4.92:
http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...gationMenu=YES

4.81a:
http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/int...ite_v4.81A.pdf

4.13 - 4.73A:
http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/int...e%20051109.pdf

I do 99% of my driving in the Seattle Washington area, and I don't see any map updates for Seattle in any of these - does this really mean that I should forget about buying and installing an update? How can it be that a major city map is not updated year after year?

Thanks very much for your help

Paul

Great question. I'm not sure I have ever read about anyone updating their navigation.
I have a 2007 and I know that several roads and highways have changed in Phx, along with new developments... ETC

Has anyone updated their navigation here? (I would love to do my 07 RDX and for sure my wife's 04 Lexus too.)

Are you in Real Estate or is your RDX a Taxi? Is it really necessary that you find that new home? $185 new??? Even the e-bay motors v4.55 at $100 is just too much money for this POS. Save your money!

I just checked the 09 we picked up and it said it had 4.92. So it looks like it has the latest?

I ordered the DVD a couple of days ago so it should arrive tomorrow. I know that even in my local area enough roads have changed in the three years since I bought the RDX that it will be nice just to have a more up-to-date map in there. $185 is a lot for that relatively minor peace of mind, but is peanuts in the big scheme of things.

Can you please let us know when you receive the DVD, if you notice any changes/updates in Southern Cal where I assume you are? According to 4.92 release notes the only updates in California are in Redding.

Thanks!

It would be great if you could test the DVD update by driving over to some new/changed roads/locations now (with your old system), and repeating it with the new navigation DVD installed.

If the new update has none of the road changes in it, I think you have 30 days to return it to Acura.

Does it change the interface or add more features with the new version?

After a few days of driving around I have only noticed a couple of updates. That's not to say there weren't more, but I haven't exactly been all over the area just to check! Anyway, I saw that the area at the intersection of El Segundo Blvd and Aviation Blvd that used to (erroneously) show the AF base on both sides of the intersection now correctly reflects that one half was sold off to a private developer. Also, when I drove to Disneyland yesterday I saw that they updated the roads leading into and around the parking structure which were mysteriously off in the previous version.

So at the very least there are minor tweaks to the L.A. area, and I'm sure the POI list has been brought up to date as well...

Is the actual interface any better visually? I mean if you travel in a 2011 MDX, the fonts are smoother, and the interface looks more "crisp" would be the correct term.

'11 MDX has a better system. Box and monitor are WAY nicer.

No, I don't think there are any changes to the interface.
