Text to Speech

Still playing around with the new 2010 RDX.

I was under the impression that the Nav had text to speech.

Does it?

If it's like prior years, you need to up the prompt level to maximum before text to speech kicks in....

I think it is under the "setup" options.
What text will be converted to speech?

I spoke with the dealer and he told me how to do it. Hope I remember when I get home.

Right now the system will say "turn right on 500 feet". Text to speech will say " turn right on 500 feet to Main Street".

That's a nice feature to have since some street turns are very close and if there's an overhead sign, you can see exactly where to turn.

I just learned about this capability with the RDX about 3 weeks ago... I turned it off today. Essentially, the street name gets tacked on at the end, after a pronounced delay, the pronunciation is poor and I decided it wasn't worth it.

When you press 'setup' turn the option in the bottom right corner to 'max'

And of course that feature and many others are in the navi manual. There are a ton of things you can find out about the system in there that you may not have known about. It makes for very interesting reading.
