Need help with my aftermarket amp/speakers install...

Hey all,

Need help with my aftermarket amp/sub/speakers install. I have a 2008 Tech and have installed the following:

1. Alpine MRP-F450 (4 channel for speakers)
2. Alpine MRP-M500 (mono amp for sub)
3. AudioControl LC6i with sub control knob
4. USASPEC AcuXL iPod integration
5. Focal component speakers for the front
6. AlpineS rear speakers

When tuned, I have a very audible amount of pink noise coming through the speakers. The installer is telling me that this is due to the signal being sent from the headunit to the LC6. Does anyone have any other thoughts on how I can fix this? I can tune the system output down, but then I don't get the full range of the speakers.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks...

Well there is a gray wire that is used as a shield/ground at pin B5 b12 B3 B26 at the factory amp and I am not sure if when that is not connected will cause noise.
I am planning on installing the DQL-8 and have been wondering about this.
It seems that nothing short of alot of trouble shooting trial n error will solve this!
Keep us informed!
Thanks

Interesting how you going through a complete overhaul. I'll definitely be following this. So far only thing I've done is a subwoofer kit.

Reviving......

Fopaul13, we need to know how your system is set up/connected!
As far as the signal source goes, are you using the high level outputs from the oem amp to go to the LC6i, or did they use the low level ones before the oem amp?

Got this from the AudioControll manual... but you probably did this already right?
---------------------------------------
Level Matching
If you have ever listened to a friend’s “killer” car audio system and heard lots of hiss, clicks or pops, then you may have experienced an improperly level-matched system. When a performance autosound system is properly level matched, you should get the maximum output from your source unit and amplifiers without any clipping or that annoying hiss! The following steps will help you through the process, although at the end of the day, your ears will be your guides!
1. Set your source unit’s fader and balance controls to their center positions. If your source unit has subwoofer output (and you are using it), set the output level at minimum.
2. Disconnect the RCA cables between your LC6i and the amplifier(s). Otherwise get some earplugs.
3. Start playing some dynamic music and set the volume on your source unit to about 3/4 of maximum. You should not be hearing anything at this point as the amplifiers are unplugged. If you are hearing music, go back to step #2; if you are hearing voices go see a doctor!
4. Adjust the output level controls until the “Maximized” light starts to flicker. If the Maximized LED does not come on but you are hearing music, fear not. The signal level from your source unit is probably not sufficient enough to trigger the LED. Do not worry, proceed on.
5. Set the input gains on the amplifier(s) at minimum! This is known as turning down your gains.
6. Double check that you performed Step #5!
7. Decrease the volume control on your source unit and re-connect the RCA’s between the LC6i and the external amplifier(s).
8. Now increase the volume on your source unit to your normal listening level. For some of you, this may be louder than others!
9. At this point you may find yourself going back and adjusting the Output Level controls on your LC6i to balance the front, rear, and subwoofer sections of your system to accommodate speaker placement and efficiency. Speakers on the rear deck of your car will probably sound louder that the ones in your doors!

I am wondering if the audiocontrol does any signal "processing" or cleaning of the signal. I know the JL cleansweep does and the MTX reQ5 i used does and I dont seem to have this problem.

I'm going to test a couple of things, including why the sub amp wasn't left in place and routed to the LOC. I'll report out to the group after I play around a little and tune...

As an aside, does anyone know where the sub amp in my other post mounts? I can't find where this originally went and the connector is not too long leaving me to wonder...

Update: Got the sub amp mounted back, wired into my LOC, and sound is infinitely better. The slight hiss can be controlled by tuning the system down a bit, but if set high, an audible noise will be present.

marco, sorry, i didn't take any pics while my rear was torn apart (my bad). if i tear it out again, i'll snap a few pics for posterity purposes. Aside from that, my amps are under my front seats and my lc6i is under the center shifter.

Here's one photo of where I just remounted the bass control from inside the center console to a more functional area...

Don't know how to put pictures in the post, so check out the link:
