Griffin iPod Controller

I've been watching the posts from people using the integration products and others using just a cable.

Anyone used this?:

http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/autopilot

Seems like a bit of a compromise - track control from a cable charger without the trouble and expense of an integrated solution.

Considering getting one but was wondering if anyone has tried it...

I'm not sure I get the point. What's the difference between that and just using the Ipod itself? Neither one will display info in the nav screen, and it's really not much of a remote control. Actually, in the RDX, that controller might be further away than the Ipod itself in a mount.

Yeah that's a good point catnippants. At least with the iPod and a cable you can pick it up and bring it close to you. That Griffin piece is fixed in the lighter socket and doesn't make it easy for you to push the buttons. I love the Cables to Go connector - http://www.cablestogo.com/product.as...2033&sku=35508

Just to clarify...If you're talking about this connector (http://www.cablestogo.com/product.a...=2033&sku=35508) no it does not charge your iPod. It also does not work on the iPhone. Not sure about the iTouch yet but just got one and will check it out.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm referring to the Autopilot.

I've been using this: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/tuneflexaux

I didn't want a 'permanent' mod (i.e. Dice Adapter, etc...). It's nice to have the actual iPod at your fingertips. Placement of unit may hide HVAC/Audio controls but just swivel the cradle to access the controls. I'll have to take a photo...

Yeah but the beauty of the Dice Adapter, etc. is that you can control the advancement of songs, etc via the steering wheel controls so you don't have to touch the iPod. Not sure if your adapter can do this. If it can that's great. It's just another added feature of the Dice that I like.

Isn't there a new ipod controller from honda (ie the music link 2.0)? I wonder if this would work in the RDX - has anyone gotten their hands on it yet?

Gang - thanks for the replies.

I was looking at the Cables to Go connector, but wanted something that would act as a charger also.

Also thought about the tuneflex, but wanted to go a little more stealthy. I would spring for the Dice (or comparable), but $200 seems excessive when you don't get track info on your stereo (at least without sacrificing the XM).

Nothing is ever perfect, is it?

Sounds like cab has had good luck with the AutoPilot - I'll probably go that route since it:

* Has the line out feed
* Charges the iPod
* Has track control
* Is $150 cheaper than Dice

I'll post back if I get one...

Zoukeeper....whatever works for you bro.

I eventually want to get a DICE or something similar but I'm going to wait until someone has figured out how to get the info on the NAV display w/out effecting the XM satellite. I mean it can't be that hard to do right? The only other benefit to the DICE is that it works with the iPhone plus you can use steering controls to navigate through your music which is a huge plus.

I'm with you - you would think they could split the signal somehow...

Give me track info on the display and I opt for a more permanent install.
