Question Experience with the PEBL or RAZR

My current phone does not have bluetooth so I'm in the market for a new phone so I can take advantage of the hands free in my RDX. After looking at Acura's list of compatible phones from my service provider, I think I have narrowed it down to either the PEBL or the RAZR. Does anyone have experience with either one and their RDX - good or bad?

Thanks !

I haven't tried either of those phones at all, but my parents recently traded up from old Nokias to RAZRs and were shocked at the short battery life. They were dead every morning. When they called Verizon, they confirmed that you have to charge those ultra-slim/small phones every night because the batteries are so small. They still had their old phones, so V switched them back for no charge.

We just got razrs, and the battery life has been OK for me. I go about 3-4 days between charges, typically with about 6-10 calls a day. It's consistent with my previous StarTach that had a much larger battery.

I have the Cingular Razr and my wife has the Verizon Razr. They both seem to work well with the RDX BT system. (They also work well on the BT system on my BMW.) My only gripe for both of the phones is that you have to go through several menus in the phone to pair up with the car. (Hint: With the Cingular Razr, you have to "Find Devices" instead of "Find Me" when you're going through the BT menus.) Once they're paired the first time, they sync up with the car whenever you start the engine.

We both have car chargers car since the BT sucks up battery life, but I think that would be the case with any BT phone. Otherwise, we've been happy with this feature and will be buying all our future cars with it.

I had a RAZR for about a year and maybe it was because it was gen 1, but man what a pos that was. It rarely even rang when people called me; they were like, I called your cell, why didn't you answer? Embarrassing. Then when I tried to make calls, coverage was always poor, dropped calls, etc. Sent it back to Cingular for replacement, they gave me one with updated software and it was actually worse than my first phone. Not knocking Moto, but yeah, batt life was also weak besides the other stuff. Cool-looking phone, though!

Now I have a Moto L6 (radio shack carries them or the latest version) -- it's basically the candy bar version of the RAZR (non-iTunes) but it actually works! And well. I've had zero issues with it; only gripe is speaker phone could be a little louder on it. I also easily pair it with a BT headset. Batt life is also very, very good on it. I charge it once a week; twice if I talk more than an hour on it but that is rare. I am pretty fired up about having BT on the Tech whenever I finally get my RDX.

Where can a person find a list of the Acura RDX compatible phones?? I also need a new phone and have been looking for awhile, but I guess I'd better make sure it works with the vehicle

My current phone is a Sumsung and before that I had a couple of phones from Nokia, but looking at the acura site the phones they have tested from T-Mobile (my provider) are Blackberries and Motorola phones. I have no interest in a Blackberry so that leaves me looking at the Motorola phones. There may be other T-Mobile phones that work too and if anyone has a suggestion I'm open to them. I just don't want to buy a phone only to find out it isn't compatible with the RDX so that is why I was thinking of sticking to something on the acura list.

If your service provider offers the Sanyo Katana, I would opt for this phone over the PEBL and the RAZR. My Katana links perfectly with my TL HFL and I've never had any problems with the phone. In fact, my fiancee is dropping her RAZR due to poor call quality.

Edit - I see you have TMobile which, I believe, they do not carry the Katana.

The PEBL is a sweet looking phone and it feels good in your hand. I almost switched my service to TMobile from Sprint, but if I had switched, I would have got a PEBL.

I have no problems with my RAZR and the BT in the RDX. In fact, its been great. I don't know much about the short battery - its nothing I really noticed to be honest. Then again, I was used to charging my Samsung quite frequently. I do tend to utilize this feature often so thats probable more of my issue.

I just ordered a new Verizon KRZR since my old phone did not have BT. The Acura site says "currently testing".
Oh well - we'll see.

I checked that link and not all of the phones shown are available in Canada. And, none of our local areas are even listed.

From what I can tell, there are three possibilities here:

- LG chocolate
- Sony W810
- Motorola ROKR

Any comments or feedback regarding any of these phones??

Also, anyone in Canada have some experience in this area??

I use my Motorola RAZR V3M in my G/F's RDX with Zero issues, and battery life is fine.
