Hi. New to the forum. Just got RDX/Tech this week. I tried loading up a DVD with mp3s only to find the car could/would not read it. Have seen in the forums here that this is true. But also saw a note about the MDX having this capability enabled via a software upgrade.

I assume the hardware DVD player is capable of reading data/mp3 disks. True?

Does anyone know if its possible for a software update to enable the capability for RDX?

Does anyone want to speculate on the likelihood and timing of this occurring?

I don't know if DVD-Rs will ever be possible. However, with a 6 disk changer in there, CD-Rs give me 4.2GB of space of MP3s. That's more than my ipod and I'm very happy with it. If I need more than 4.2GB on a multi-day road trip, then I can bring another 6 disks and swap them when needed.

 

I'm with you. I'd like to see this enabled. 4.2G isn't enough for me - and I hate swapping CDs. I suspect since the drive reads DVDs, there's no reason why they couldn't enable it via firmware. I just hope they do at some point. Of course, it will cost us $185...

i got other formats on the dvd too windozmedia

 

what type of dvd (+ / -) are you using?

i tried this but didnt have any success with it.
