Anyone use Bluetooth Speakerphone on Non Tedch Models??

I have a tech model, so I don't intend to use it in this vehicle, but I am wondering if anyone has experience with aftermarket, bluetooth speakerphones on their non-bluetooth-capable vehicle.

I was planning on getting the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 speakerphone for the frontier and wanted to know if anyone has a real-world reveiw on it; online searches yield to mixed results.

I got an ST3 for my 99 TL. It mounts to the visor and works quite well. When you get into the car and close the door, it senses the vibration and tries to connect to your phone. The only issues I've found is that if you park your car close by, and if you don't walk outside of the bluetooth range, your phone will stay connected. So when a call comes in, it will go to the ST3.

Interesting, do you have any issues with the caller ID recognition? I heard that with some Blackberry devices, the name will not be recognized, and only the number will be heard. I can't remember anyone's numbers. Do all the voice command work, without having to scream at it? Does it pick up when told and ignore when commanded?

What phone do you use?

Thanks...I don't feel like paying $80 for something that may be potentially flaky.

If your phone doesn't support bluetooth phonebook transfer, the ST3 won't be able to read the name of the calling party, and will only read the digits of the phone number.

I use a moto razer v3i. Everything is working perfectly. The setup and initial phonebook transfer took about 3-5 minutes.

Cool, I have a Blackberry 8820, and I am not sure whether this phone supports it; I'm too lazy to find out at the moment.

I'll probably pick it up next month.

Anyone else use a different type of speakerphone?

I've used the Parrot blue tooth kit. Not sure of the model number, but its the only model available with a steering wheel mounted control. It works great, mutes the stereo during calls, displays the phone number, and announces who is calling via voice. I got it for my daughter's Rav 4 because she is in NY State and they require a hands free kit. I liked it so much I installed one on my 1970 BMW 2002 and it works great there too.

It has some sort of bluetooth capability for an mp3 player as well, but I don't use that as both cars have Ipod ready stereos.

I haven't made the purchase yet. I'm a bit hesitant on it, since both blackjack and BB8820 phones have speakerphone. I guess I need to try it out from someone, for a weekend, then see how improved (over phone speaker) it really is.
