Aftermarket audio installation
Aftermarket audio installation
I have an '07 RDX and would like to install my own 12" sub, aftermarket front and rear speakers, and two amps (one for the sub and one for the mids/highs). I'm clueless when it comes to audio so I'll have to have the equipment professionally installed. I'm a bit worried, due to the complexity of the RDX system and factory 8" sub, that an audio shop could easily botch up the existing set up. Also I was wondering if there is enough room where the factory sub is housed to expand it to fit a 12" sub? I'm thinking probably not, but doesn't hurt to ask.
If anyone can give me helpful advice as to how to have my amps installed, the new subwoofer, and what kind of front/rear speakers would be best, I'd really appreciate it!
Thx,
Erica

Erica, here's my
If you're having it done professionally, those guys do this stuff day-in and day-out on high-tech cars of all-sorts, so there should be no issues with "messing up" the current setup (electronically speaking anyway)... As far as the install of a 12" sub, your best bet is to have the installers do a custom box that fits to one side... they may be able to cut into the existing plastic, but I'm not sure you want to do that irreversable move to your new toy...
I'm not sure if they make one for the RDX specifically, but there are custom designed boxes out there for different trunk spaces. As far as front and rear speakers, I've always had good luck with kenwoods... that is more a preference thing... get online and look at reviews to find which ones are generally more reliable, etc...
If you're gonna get rid of your stock speakers, PM me, I keep blowing mine
