Question 2010 RDX iPod Integration

If I have my iPhone (3G) plugged into the USB port and am listening to the iPod using the interface (not the Bluetooth audio streaming) and I start or restart the vehicle, the sound stops after about 20 seconds.

The display is still showing the details for the track etc., but no sound. The only way I've found that I can get the sound to come back is to unplug the cable from the iPhone and plug it in again.

It's not a huge deal, but a little annoying, as usually I've begun driving before the sound drops out, and then have to mess with the cable.

Anyone else experiencing this with their 2010s?

Yep. Annoying.

Have you upgraded the iPhone OS yet? Some people have reported problems with the integration after upgrading. My wife's iphone is updated, and it was slow to show track names, playlist names, etc. But it works.

Yep, I've installed iOS4. Didn't fix the issue unfortunately, but made my phone brutally slow.

Exclamation

I have a 2010 TL that exhibits the same problem using an iPhone 4; I presume navigation & audio electronics are standardized throughout all models.

Actually, it's more than just the 'if car is restarted, no audio from iPhone'. Sometimes (fairly rarely) while playing back from the iPhone all audio will cut-out spontaneously. Also, sometimes audio levels will drop significantly, and only selecting a different audio source (such as XM) and returning to the iPod source will fix it. This seems to happen more frequently when the nav computer is active and directing to a destination (and I'm not talking about the volume decrease when the nav voice speaks; talking about during periods when there should be no volume decrease).

None of this happens on an iPod classic.

Notice that when you plug your iPhone in you probably get a compatibility warning notification on the iPhone. This means that the vehicle is using an old protocol to talk to the device. I suspect that this might have something to do with the iPhone issues. In any case, Acura's claim that the iPhone is supported is stretching the truth a little bit. It works, just not very well.

Good question. As far as I can determine, on all 2010 tech packages, there is no way to pause nearly all audio sources (bluetooth may be an exception). The iPod will pause, however, if you switch to another audio source.

I switched to other sources and it didnt pause. The track was still playing when I came back to it. Sometimes it would still be playing after turning off the radio.

The problem is I can't control ipod when it's connected to the car. Even I turn off the radio.
