2007 Radio Replacement Question
2007 Radio Replacement Question
OK, I have given up on getting my RDX radio to accept an unlock code. I have the correct code, but whatever wiped the serial number from the unit's memory also messed up its ability to be unlocked - even with the correct code.
My question: I am going to buy a used Acura OEM exact replacement radio and install it. The person I am buying the unit from does not have the unlock code. The procedure is to go to the Acura website and enter the vehicle's VIN and radio serial number to retrieve the unlock code. Since my replacement radio has never been associated with my vehicle, can I enter my VIN and the replacement radio's serial number and get a code, or will I get an error because the VIN dies not match the vehicle the radio was originally on?
Thanks for your help.

Right, but it takes the radio serial number and the car's VIN to get the radio code. If I enter my car's VIN and the replacement radio's serial number, will I get a radio code, or will I get an error because their records do not show that radio being associated with my RDX?
