Why are people putting on mud guards as accessory?

I am really curious as to why are people putting on the splash guards as an accessory item?
My Canadian RDX came standard with them. Is it not the same for RDX in the US?

They are an accessory in the USA, but they came "standard" at my dealer. They were part of their dealer prep package. We've bought two cars there and both times they included their prep package without additional charge. It also included the wheel locks and cargo tray.

when we picked up the RDX, the prep included wheel locks and antitheft markings on various components of the car. i simply refused them. i was given a refund for the antitheft stuff, but 150 was charged for the wheel locks. i then returned the wheel locks, got the credit back. i passed by parts dept and purchased another set for less than half of that.

Lighten up...it was a joke.
That said, I know several folks who purchased the RDX just weeks after it was available and neither paid full MSRP. The fact that you were under duress with your previous vehicle and didn't want to sink more $$ into it doesn't prohbit you from negotiating with the dealer. Your right, I don't know your situation and frankly don't care to but no statement I made was without basis. If you pay full MSRP for any vehicle you better be getting one that's loaded.
