Washer fluid indicator?

I am loving my 2 week old RDX with tech package. In reading the manual, I notice that the low washer fluid indicator seems to be disabled on US versions, but is standard on Canadian versions. Is this the case? Is there a way to turn this function back on in US versions of the RDX? I know this is not major, but it would be great to know of there is a hack to get this to work.

I know - this kills me. I had a washer level light in my first car....a cheapo Dodge Shadow. I've missed it in every car I've had since. Why the hell would it be enabled on Canadian RDXs and not ours? Is there some stupid law against windshield washer fluid level indicators in the US?

It's silly....

Mine just lit up the other day - I didn't even know it had one. It was nice to know.

This probably wasn't much help, other than to rub it in, but hey, if for whatever reason you don't have this feature, you can at least feel superior in the fact that us Canadians had to pay an additional $7-9K over U.S. prices to get this light.

The language is unclear in the manual. The way the manual is written, it looks like the US models with the Tech package may have the low wash fluid warning.

When it says Canadian model only it is talking about the non-tech cluster.

This is the same deal with the 3.2 CL, the canadians have a low washer fluid indicator and we tried to hack it to work but could not do it, not sure why the canadiens get this feature, but oh well, at least we get NAVI!!!

Bigger reservoir

The RDX in Canada also gets a bigger washer fluid reservoir as does the CR-V.

I was only asserting that in the first half of the manual it didn't rule out a US with the Tech package only the US Base. Further into the manual was where it indicated only the Canadian vehicles had it thus correcting my assertion.

Is anyone else (outside of our lucky Canadian friends) finding it hard to see the level of the washer fluid under the hood? I see the big 1/2 marker all the way down there, but even in broad daylight I can barely see how high the fluid is...

The 2G TL has it for Canada only as well. However I read on the 3G TL some people got there american versions to display it pretty easy. I think its a pretty easy mod try searching there maybe its a similar set up to the RDX.

I'd trade the useless traffic crap for a washer fluid indicator any day. It doesn't work if you don't live in a covered city...which I suspect is a large percentage of us...

Yep, here in DFW (fourth largest metro in US), we only have the incident reports.

From what I see in the shop manual, the reservoir with the level sensor is different than in the US model. You would have to replace the reservoir at the least to get the feature in the US!

Why do most car manufacturers do this to their American counterparts?
