VIN # Incorrect??

Has anyone had any trouble using their VIN??

I tried to add my VIN to the user profile at http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/Customer/index.asp and it won't recognize the VIN number.

I've checked it against the windshield, the bill of sale and everything. Just wondering what's up...

Well, if she is from Canada, why use the American Honda Ownerlink site? Is there a separate corporation/website for Canadian Honda vehicles?

The OwnerLink site as described above is for US cars (and residents?) only. Canada has no equivalent. Once again, we get the shaft.

Further to above, the dealerships listed to "Schedule Service Appointment" are only US dealers. A CDN can still register using the site, but the functionality will be greatly diminished... just don't put in a VIN.

It is pretty narrow-minded of Acura to not include Canada in American Honda since they are in North America....

I don't know how Honda operates, but if they are like Subaru, there is zero connection between Subaru of America (SOA) and Subaru of Canada (SOC). This despite the fact that both get cars manufactured from Subaru Indiana Automotive (SIA). They are all separate units under Fuji Heavy Industries. I would not be surprised if Honda treated the various country and manufacturing units the same way, hence excluding Canadian VINS from the American Honda OwnerLink site. Perhaps the real issue is that Honda-Canada has not set up an owner website for its customers.

This is likely the biggest factor... but I think it also factors into the software release on the vehicles with Nav. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the US RDX (with Tech) can schedule service appts and such (or receive confirmation) through their Nav (when the right phone is plugged in). No such feature exists on the CDN RDX.

I guess it's chicken and the egg, but a functional system is already in use in the US... no idea why Acura Canada has not decided to follow suit.

yes but US can only do online scheduling and such if your dealer participates. Apparently not all dealers have full functionality

Mommy_Barbie - you should try www.myacura.ca

Acura will send you a client number in the mail to assist you in the login process - mine took about 6 weeks to arrive.

The other way is to go to the website and delete everything past and including the question mark to manually log in. All you need is your VIN and payment information.

Hope this helps.

Awesome - thanks drtdvl!! My letter should arrive any time now (I hope). BTW, I see you're in Alberta too (I wonder how many of us are out here).

Anyways, I agree - we tend to get shafted up here (e.g. would love those real-time traffic reports, maintenance reminders, and other goodies, but oh well...).

For c_hunter, I tried the US address because that's what was supplied to me by another RDX afficionado - they were certain that there was nothing else out there - and after all, there's no harm in trying, right??

Thanks for the posts guys!!
