Help with rims for my Silver RDX

Hey all, looking for a little help on finding new rims for the car. A little bit of a newbie here, and may have missed a thread prior, but need some ideas from you all. Looking to stick with 18s but for the right price would move up. Pics, ideas, anything would help. I look at my RDX and just think its missing something. Thinking new rims might help her out! Thanks in advance!!

Love my RonJon rims on my Silver RDX. Definitely consider the chrome. I still might get the chrome ones at some point. Enjoy.

for a fleeting moment, I thought my silver RDX needed to get pumped up with rims. Now that I see that..I LOVE those! They are perfect as thay are. Someone did the chrome larger set wheels. too over bearing IMO. Maybe those are nice in chrome too, but darn...

I like the originals too. But I just felt the car needed an upgrade and I couldn't resist.

I agree w/ you on the larger wheels and the increase in size. No real need IMHO.

Is your primary goal aesthetics or performance?

I don't think black rims would look good on a silver RDX. just my opinion....

Photoshop them on there and see how they look...

Agreed. Aesthetically, on a metallic silver car without black contrasts to "match", generally speaking, I think either brushed aluminum or chrome is called for.

A friend of my bought a white 4runner and put aluminum rims with painted white contrasts on it .... and it looked pretty good.

Going more for aesthetics than performance. Just wanting to change the look a little. Dare I say more aggressive.. I just feel it needs something to cap it off. More or less just looking for ideas right now. Looking at pics to see what others have come up with...

The need for larger wheels is increased performance, if this is indeed a value. larger wheels allow for a smaller aspect ratio for a given net tire/wheel diameter.

The aspect ratio of a tire -- the percentage of tire bead height to width -- makes a large difference on handling (and ride quality). Hence, the RDX comes stock with P235/55R18 size tires (235 = width in millimeters, 55 = aspect ratio meaning the height of the tire is 55% of the width). I wanted performance handling improvements so I upgraded to a 19" rim to facilitate a better tire for this purpose (245/45). Notice the 245-235=10 and the 55-45=10 meaning my net tire/wheel diameter remains about the same preserving my wheel/tire diameter (and therefore speedometer validity which is very important for the car's computer).

In addition, I chose Z rated performance tires (yes, overkill ) ) which possess an even stiffer sidewall and a relatively "sticky/spongy" tread (which btw wears out about twice as fast as "normal" tires and are the worst choice for snow and ice).

The end result is that my RDX will, all other things equal, significantly out-corner a stock RDX on dry roads and highways and will be more stable at high speeds. Likewise, on snow/ice, off-roading, pot holes, curbs, etc., assuming my wheels and car interior remain intact, my kidneys won't.

My car rides considerably rougher than a stock RDX and this is either a net good or bad thing of course depending upon what one values.

For a silver RDX, I just love these RonJon wheels (click on their ad above right). In fact, I *wish* I would have bought these in the stead of the overpriced Acura wheels I bought.

This weekend I plan to polish and detail "Nicho" and take pics

It's been nasty and dirty here of late and only recently has it even been worth cleaning him up.

you could always just get the stock rims chromed, someone on this site in a thread posted a place where you can send them for chrome, and it wasn't that expensive either
