Turn off Auto A/C On

I live up in Canada and most of the time we don't use the A/C (consumes more fuel and just hate the noise especially on the rdx)

I know on the 2nd gen crv, the a/c would come on automatically but there was a key sequence that could turn that off.

Is there any such thing with the RDX without me always turning it off manually?

Yes i know the A/C comes on and is sometimes useful in the winter especially when the windows fog up it dehumidifies the air. But honestly I'd rather turn the a/c on when I need it then have the car turn it on everytime I turn on the climate control.

I believe the only thing you can do is press the a/c button when you do not want it to run.

In summer, set your temp and press AC on and off buttons, don't forget to use the circulate button as well. In winter, you will use the auto for heat and make sure your circulate burron is off, or else your SUV would be all fog up, hope it help.

I'm in the same boat. Also, I find the intercooler to be really loud so I'd even prefer to turn it off whenever A/C isn't necessary (like last night's 1 degree weather).

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a way other than manually turning it off.

I think its the fan you're hearing, not the intercooler.

As far as I can tell it is. I was driving home last night and the vents were blowing hot air but I could still hear the intercooler. The only way to shut it up was to switch the A/C off.

Maybe that was the fan.

hmm...maybe that's why i've been getting poor gas mileage...or it's just my driving style...hehe.

but really, i also noticed that when i turned off the a/c, the compressor (or fan) definitely turns off. must be some connection with the a/c. seems very silly if the compressor is on even if it's heat we're getting....a big waste of gas.

i remember in all my previous cars, that sound of the compressor was directly tied with a/c use since i never had a car that had an 'auto' mode.

The only problem is when auto mode is on, once select A/C off, it would deselect auto. Will the heat be on. According to the manual, it supposed to turn on when the inside temp drops below the set temp.

Yes, all the settings e.g. temp, vent selection, fan speed stay the same and the temps will be maintained. When you turn the ignition off with the a/c off, that's how it will be when you next start the engine.
