It's worth noting if you think that feature is important. Other magazines have noted this on an assortment of vehicles. In the rain, dark, or with dirt on the lens, those cameras diminish in usefulness big time. Many people feel the backup sensors are better because they work in all conditions. Probably a combination of the sensors and camera is best.
Me, I still do it the old fashioned way. The RDX is not big enough to need either option in my opinion.

I hardly ever use the camera except in very particular situations, like when I am backing up to something that is totally not visible in mirrors or windows, or if I need to back up to something and get within 3 inches of it.
As for the camera not working well in the rain. I think it works fine in the rain. The lens does get water on it and you can see it in the camera, but it still works fine. You'd still notice if you were about to backup over a bike or something back there. The thing I'm waiting to see is how it does in the snow or freezing rain which we havene't had here yet. For those that have had wintery weather, has the snow and ice covered the lens?

I have had quite a bit of experience so far with snow, freezing rain and frost. The camera is basically useless in those situations. All you see is fog and blur. The good news is that the side mirrors are great! Also, the RDX really ploughs through the snow with ease. I go through the biggest drifts just for fun, still have not got stuck...probably will sometime though!

I wonder if your lights are on if the license plate light bulb is warm enough to keep the camera from freezing over.... add a heated-self cleaning camera to next year's feature list!
