Shot in the dark here. I still have my 2011 RDX with now 117k miles on it. Recently installed a trailer hitch on it to put some e-bikes when I feel like it. I bought a wiring harness kit as well, and hooked it up to the dongle, but the instruction say to just open the trunk and drop the wires out when hooking up to a trailer. That seems kind of hokie to me, but I did not see anywhere to run the wires out of the trunk to get it prewired to the bottom of the hitch. Without drilling holes in my trunk or frame, anyone do this themselves and have permanent hitch wiring? Thanks.
I did a similar 4-way wiring harness from eTrailer for my 08 RDX around 2014 for a bike rack with lights (fat tire ebikes) and swing out cargo carrier with lights. I ended up just doing the hang out the hatch when needed instead of trying to find a path for permanently mount the harness to the exterior of the aftermarket 2" hitch. There really wasn't a spot to mount the harness on the hitch I purchased from eTrailer? Just left it curled up in the spare tire wheel well until I needed it. Zero issues over the years doing the hang out back thing (handed down the RDX to daughter in 2019).
Thanks Mr. Gold. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one missing an easy wiring route out of the car. Like pull some rubber grommet out and route the wires. My RDX Has been relatively maintenance free except for an AC $600 part (not compressor), and the dreaded oil leak somewhere. Been a good car.
