Put down deposit yesterday and added a trailor hitch w/o asking for price, was expecting couple hundreds. I was just told it'll be around 1400. That's kind too much. I'll start looking for 3rd party.

They'll send me the brochure tomorrow, I'll update when I find out more.

 

Factory hitches are always overpriced, just like factory wheels. If you don't need the Acura logo, aftermarket options are almost always cheaper. I'm guessing the 19 inch wheel option for the RDX is going to be close to $3000 up here in Canada and you need to buy the 19 inch tires on top of that. Accessories are the real gravy for the dealers. If you wait a while, often some dealers will offer genuine accessories on ebay for a greatly reduced price. That way you get OEM quality and fit at a reasonable price.

 

The price may include transmission oil cooler, power steering oil cooler, electrical hook-up, tow hitch, tow ball, and labor plus factory warranty for all components and coverage if your RDX tranny or anything else blows out.

Sounds about right.

 

"May " include? What of it doesn't? I too went WTF? when I saw $1400.

 

The lesson learned here is to make sure that you do your homework and know exactly what is included in any accessory that you are looking into purchasing. Unfortunately with the RDX, it is so new that the dealers themselves don't even know all the details about the accessories yet.

 

They should know....

 

I know that the MDX tow hitch also came with some extra cooling for the engine. But from what I've read the RDX really isn't designed to tow anything.
