tme to stock up on Mobil 1 for RDX
Saw both autozone and advance auto parts selling 5 qts of Mobil 1 + 1 mobil 1 oil filter for $30.00. I think it is a pretty good deal.
Of course, there is always Walmart which was selling their 5 qts Pennzoil platinum for $20.00 and 5 qts of Mobil 1 for $22.00. That wa 2 weeks ago, not sure what the price is now.
Actually, I do find pennzoil makes the RDX runs smoother...

Yes, Autozone has the best deal so far. The jug has a little more oil than the wal-mart jug, and i want to say (memory) it's about 4.78 quarts versus 5.21 quarts.
I just changed the oil, and i managed to get 2 mobil1 jugs and 2 mobil1 filters. The deal doesnt end until late October, so i need to get a few more!

there is a $15 rebate on 5qt of penzoil platinum, just sent mine out. I usually buy Mobil1, but when they had shortage or when I could get $15 back rebate I go with penzoil platinum.

combine the penzoil rebate with this 10 off 25 advance coupon to make 5 qts of syn free

fram filters are $4 so you would save $86+tax vs dealer for 5 mins of work

I've changed to Mobil1 0W-30 for the last 3 oil changes. So I still have to get mine from WalMart since Autozone and Advance Auto doesn't carry them

Hmmm... I am not so sure about running the RDX with a oil grade that is not recommended by Honda, especially when you have a turbocharged engine. Not sure about the long term repercussions.

It'll be fine, I'm not worried at all. I have run 0W-20 on my previous 03 Accord that recommends 5W-20 for 100k + miles with no problem. I was happy when Mobil1 finally came out with 0W-30 from then on both my RDX and Civic that recommends 5W-30 have been running with the Mobil1 0W-30. Current total mileage on the RDX, 52k miles with 20k something miles running on 0W-30

Costco $36 for 6 quarts (if my memory is right) for Mobil 1. $10 coupon making it $26 for 6 quarts. I think the coupon starts next weekend and lasts for 2 weeks, limit 3 cases. Sign up for the Mobil 1 web site thing and you can get some kind of points for buying a case. I bet the points are good for a hat or a tee shirt.

question: has anyone tried the Mobil1: Extended Performance oil...? supposedly its a group IV oil but it doesnt have the HTO-06 rating...
would it be safe to use...?
would it be safe to use...?

Nobody knows, probably safe, but from bureaucracy point of view, they have a full right to deny your warranty. Mobil 1 EP primary focus on longer drain intervals, which means more cleaning agents which probably comes at a cost of less protection under critical conditions.
