A Smarter RDX...

This thread is NOT for a list of missing features (memory seats, etc) but rather a discussion on how the technologies we HAVE could be smarter. Just an entertaining discussion. I love my RDX...

1. Auto closing sunroof
2. Windshield wipers that retract when engine is shut off.
3. Sunroof open / close tied into the voice commands.
4. Light sensor that keeps the navi screen on bright if I run my headlights in daylight.

- Tie the HFL and Nav databases together so you don't have to store duplicate information
- Nav system to remember "avoid" streets after a recalculation
- Add "parking" to the list of things you can search for around a destination
- Fix the "parking" setting for the side mirror so it can still help even if you set the mirror wide
- Spring loaded tailgate that can lift itself if you pop it with hands full
- Hitting a disc button should turn on the audio system and go to that disc
- Move/duplicate paddle shifter feature to the center gear shift lever

How about a voice command to scratch my nose when it etches?

Geez some of you think that the RDX needs to become like KITT from Knight Rider. Next thing you want is it to have turbo boost

Holy cow. I'd settle for just a memory seat addition.

On the door itself, so when I have the trunk lid in place, I can see.

I'm still lost - the existing trunk light in the RDX is underneath the trunk lid so it shouldn't be blocked by it. It's over on the left hand side just under the support for the trunk lid...

I think i know what light your talking about but either way there needs to be better lighting back there. At night its very hard to see anything especially with the cover blocking most of the cabin light.

#3 is a saftey issue on the closing side(only for the very stupid, but Acura doesn't want to get sued)
#4.... I believe if you turn your dash back lighting to its maximum setting, it will default the nav screen to daytime mode. I know this works on the TL and TSX, I'm drawing a blank on the RDX for some reason.

When I listed auto close sunroof I didn't mean while the car was runnning. Autoclose when the ignition is turned off. A previous aftermarket roof had this feature with override if you intend to leave the roof open. As far as safety the roofs these days have a pressure sensor that reverses the close.

It also has an on/off switch embedded on it too - since the switch is clear plastic on textured clear plastic it is very hard to see, but you can feel it if you fumble around on it. When I got mine the light was switched off - possibly because customers tend to pop hatches and leave them open in the showroom so the dealers probably turn it off to save the battery and forget to turn it back on when doing a pre-delivery inspection...

Many cars have a feature whereby you can close all of the windows and the sunroof by either holding the key in the door lock in the lock position or by holding the lock button on the remote for more than a second. My Audi had the feature, but it wasn't "auto-close", it was "continue to close for as long as you held the button" so your finger would get a little annoyed while you waited through the delay and then the time it took all the windows to close, but better and easier by far than getting back in and turning the car on to close the extraneous windows/sunroof...

While you're at it, why don't you just have the car drive itself? Some of you people are just unbelieveable...
