Should I worry?

So I put a deposit down for a Tech RDX over the weekend with delivery end-June.

Dealer promised that my RDX would be brand new (coming in by rail) with scheduled shipment to dealer first week of June.

Now, the odd thing is I noticed on the sales agreement, he already put a stock number down (no VIN). So I go and check this stock number against their website and found the VIN, but I also found many other VINS that are newer than this one ( > 500). Is the dealer lying to me regarding "brand new"? Should I worry? I just don't like being lied to!

Since I was willing to pre-order it (almost 2 months ahead of time before delivery), I would expect a new one and not one sitting on some lot for a while. That way battery is fresh and all problems with earlier production vehicles would have been corrected.

Thanks for any comments.

Some dealers will record on their online inventories vehicles which haven't been shipped yet to their lots. I know for a fact the Ohio dealer I dealt with did this as I saw my TL pop up on their inventory list before the car was even shipped from the factory.

I have a hard time believing your dealer didn't have an existing RDX matching your specs on their lot OR could not dealer trade for one. Or perhaps you "ordered" one because you wanted a later build date.

Where do you live? Here in the USA, most dealers have plenty of RDXs on the lot and can get any other color pretty quickly. Why do you need to order one?

BTW - all Acura dealers I have visited will use dedicated demo cars for test drives. The cars they sell as new will all be pristine. Mine had 4 miles on the odometer.

The reason I ordered one for end-June delivery is my current car lease is up first week of July and wanted to make sure I have a car to replace it. I'm in Vancouver, Canada and I heard some ppl were waiting up to 1 month. Just didn't want to be without a car for any given time.

Well, I guess I can always check the build date on the car when I go in to pick it up. What build date should I be looking for if dealer is to receive in early June?

I just hope the dealer wasn't lying even when I specifically told him I expect a new one and not one that's been sitting on the lot for some time. Maybe I'm overthinking it too and should just enjoy the car when I get it.

i wouldnt worry, when my mom recently bought her 07 TL w/Nav they had a list of not only cars that were expected to arrive to them that werent even produced yet, but other dealers in the area. Acura tells them who is getting what, they even dealer traded before either car was built! go figure!
