Saving it for the test drive

Like all of you here, I have been keeping my eye on the RDX. I have owned an MDX, TL (04) and now drive an RL(05)

Looking at the RDX for the wife so she can swap out of the X3. We went in for the test drive this weekend and I have to say we were not impressed

$37,000 and change for the tech package? Personaly, I think that is a bit much Can't you buy an 06 MDX around that price today? I know, it is newer and has some whistles the MDX doesn't have but still? They acutally had an RDX on display with the bigger wheels and I am not sure what else for $44,000?

No memory seating? I know we have all read many threads already about this and we were all aware it wouldn't have it, but I feel that should have been part of the tech package.

If I am going to spend $37,000 plus for a car, you better give me a power passenger seat! Enough said there!

Now for the driving experiance I know everyone here is partiel to their preffered auto maker I believe the RDX is in direct compitition with the BMW X3. Fortunatley I own an X3, so I feel I can make a good comparison here. I believe the X3 is short on horse power by 15 just under the RDX, but I feel that the X3 is much quicker, not only off the line but also hauling ass on the freeway You do not get the same feel for the road as you do in the X3, but that is just a BMW thing and those of you who drive them, know what I am talking about. SHAWD-What can I say about that I have it in my RL and use when pushing the car to its limits, it is an awsome thing, but wife will never do that (AND I MEAN NEVER), so there is really no sense in having it except for the All Wheel Drive portion, which we already have on the X3.

Now, the RDX does have some great internal gadgetry Don't need to go into details, but basically anything the RL has it has( except for the memory seating and the power passenger seat ofcourse).

I will probably have to eat my words on this one, but I don't see Acura selling the units they want to ( I think it is around 40,000) with the RDX at that price! This is my story and I am sticking to it

Thanks for the review, nice to read a comparo against the X3 from someone who actually owns one. I understand the 'tentative' and 'apologetic' way you wrote your comments, hopefully you won't get slammed too hard by the others.

How much would a BMW X3 with similar options cost you? If you looked at it from this perspective, the RDX would not seem to be overpriced at all.

Well, with your liberal use of smileys and abundant misspellings, I have no choice but to concur.

Seriously, though, I don't entirely see why you think it's too expensive. It's absurd to compare the practically ancient MDX to the freshly engineered RDX, even if market prices are similar. It's far better executed than the cheaper CX-7, and it undercuts the (better, according to you) X3 significantly. Countless people argue that your dear RL is terribly overpriced, but you bought one of those anyway, so who knows. . . but I think it's a good value.

I agree lamster. It would be cost more then the RDX. But, don't forget that Acura is know for providing Luxury Cars at affordable prices and BMW is not. I personaly do not feel that Acura has priced this car (suv) well in comparison with their other vehicles JMHO

So just because BMW ALWAYS overprice their car, that makes it ok? But if Acura puts on a higher price tag, everyone is screaming and complaining? I dunno....doesn't make much sense to me. It's like saying "oh, he's a devil so let him kill the innocent guy...but look over there, an angel just stepped on an ant!! omg!!"

I also want to add that the TSX is priced at $30k right now and the RDX HAS to be more expensive because of the turbo engine, live traffic updates, DVD-A audio system, rear view camera, and some other neat little features. Some of those are not even available on the $35k TL. So what's wrong with pricing the RDX at $37-$39k?? The TL-S will be at $39k next year so I think Acura is doing a good job at pricing the RDX. I do have to agree not including memory seat and power passenger seat is a big, big mistake. I think a lot of people are using that to justify their cries of "overprice" which I can completely understand. But we all know Acura will be adding those features next or next next year.

Well, as someone who thought the RDX was overpriced, I have now changed my mind....
The girlfriend and I went for a test drive at a Honda Dealer(Pilot) and an Acura Dealer(RDX)

I had planned on getting an RDX/Tech but moved up to an 06 RL because the deal was too damn good to pass up. My g/f was going to get a Pilot...that is until she drove the RDX. She said she felt like the car was an "extension" of her!

One other question......anyone know if you can enter Latitude/Longitude coordinates in the Nav system directly?
