Roof Rack Cover Gone
Roof Rack Cover Gone
Hi all,
Picked up my RDX last Thursday.
On Monday, on a county highway doing about 45, I heard a sound like something light hit the top of the car. What happened was the left front cover that covers the bolts/screws that secures the roof rack to the roof went flying off. I immediately pulled over and picked up the cover. The cover is apparently a simple slide over cover that isn't exactly secure.
Today, I drove about 200 miles to pick up my wife at the airport. I noticed the same sound that I experienced but this time on the NJ Turnpike. I pulled over to check what had happened, and sure enough, it was the same thing. But this time, both covers were gone. I could not reverse on the turnpike, or U-turn to search the whole length of the freeway, so I gave up and came home.
What would you all do? Anybody notice this problem? Should I expect the dealer to replace these covers, or am I gonna have to pay for them. Can't I say that the dealer/Acura did an inadequate job securing the roof rack? Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Both front and rear covers are secured by a spring-loaded clip. You can see a small hole on the inside of these covers. If you push an awl or something into the hole, the covers can be removed by pushing on the clip. Sounds to me like they were never seated. I removed the rear covers to slide off the brackets for the roof racks since I rarely use them and don't want the wind noise.
