Just want to update this thread regarding EBC RedStuff. I no longer have any reservations about cold stopping power with the Red.

I just put RedStuff and EBC USR slotted rotors on my GTI and they are the best pads I've ever used. There is noticable increased initial bite over GreenStuff, both cold and hot.

EBC says they are a very progressive pad and they aren't kidding. Initial bite is strong but not grabby and with increased pedal pressure they smoothly build from "decelerate promptly" to "STOP RIGHT F#%KING NOW!" Never felt brakes this controllable before. It's fun to go fast just to feel the stopping power.

Plus they are the lowest dust in the EBC line-up. I am definitely getting Red for the RDX next time.

(A little off-topic)

I noticed that the brakes on my 09 RDX seem a little soft. That's pretty much par for the course on Hondas. I had a 2004 Accord V6 and I upgraded my brakes and rotors after the front rotors warped. I didn't want the Honda OEM so I got Axxis Ultimates + Brembos up front with Akebono ProACT in the rear (kept the rear rotors).

I was getting awesome braking power, but the Axxis pads ate through the Brembos after ~30k miles. I could have gotten them turned, but it cost the same for new rotors so I got the new rotors instead. I also went with the Akebono ProACTs up front. They're very quiet and were very easy on the rear rotors.

I miss the confidence of going 100 mph and not having to worry about someone slamming on their brakes in front of me, but it costs too much for new rotors and pads every 30k miles. (I know, I know, I should do this stuff myself to save money.)

If the EBC Yellow Stuff pads are easy on the rotors (i.e., at least 2 set of pads per rotor), then I'll put them on in a second.
