Installation of K&N

so i bought my friend a drop in filter for his Honda civic....installed it, he turned his car on, instant check engine light.

I re-seated the filter, made sure everything was proper, reclamped the air box....check engine light.

Opened the gas cap, screwed it back on tight, waited, check engine light.

We drove the car for a good 15 mins...light still on.

Am I missing something? Havent had this happen before..pure coincidence or did the computer throw a code when the MAF was disconnected...i cant figure it out

no probs with my RDX...now i feel bad for the guy because i did it

You had an air leak near the MAF and the CE light won't clear instantly. Had this regularly with a previous car...
