how much wheel locks & door sills?

was just wondering, also for wheel locks, is it OK to get after market locks? Are they any different from Acura?
I think they call it also "Body Side Molding", things you put on your doors to prevent door dings?
Are those items usually negotiable in price (after deal is done and dealer is asking if you want any optional equip)?
What is the fair price for those things?

Look on EBay for cheap prices on these things. Installation is extra if you cannot do it yourself.

If you're buying from your dealer, you can get a better deal if you factor them into the car price instead of buying them later.

nope, you never want to combine different items into one package. Edmunds.com advices to keep each transaction as a separate. And you can typically bargain on accessories, they are usually overpriced anyway, so they might be able to take off 10% or so, but I don;t think they can take much more than that.
anyway, I looked on internet, and it looks like this is the typical price:
http://estore.honda.com
$289.00 (Body Side Molding) - With Installation
$68 wheel locks (with installation)

At least I know this is the maximum I should pay.

Those are full retail prices, right? If you are a decent negotiator and you include them in your car purchase price, you can probably get a 30-40% discount. If you separate the purchases, you'll be lucky to get a 10-20% discount from your dealer. You're better off buying the parts on EBay and paying for installation separately (or do it yourself if you have the time).

those are retail.
On ebay (from acura dealer) its 186 (with shipping) for molding, and $45 (with shipping for wheel locks. Add $50-60 for installation, which means you should pay 290-300 tops, but I am sure the dealer will initially ask for (286-70)=$356. So $50 buks should be reasonable to negotiate.

OK, dealer want $360 + tax for Moldings installed. I found on ebay (Acura of Peoria dealership, all new and OEM) sells them $185 shipped (no tax). So I ordered it.
I'll install it myself, I've read the instructions, and its simple, and I'll probably do a more thorough job than a dealer that puts them quickly in a rush. Internet competition must be killing them.... which is good.

I bought and had my roof rack and moldings installed at a different dealership than where I bought my RDX. They were super competitive because they want the future service business. I couldn't have bought them for a better price than on Ebay, or from one of the online dealerships, and the best thing about having them installed at an Acura dealership is they are now fully covered under warranty.

dude, $365 vs $185 is like double the cost. Door moldings are simple pieces of plastic that have self adhesive tape. What can go wrong? For the money I am saving, I can buy second set :-)

there is a good write up on instructions, and also in DIY someone posted additional comments. As long as you don't rush, and really take your time to do it right, you should be OK. I would not be surprised if a dealer puts them on and they are a bit off. those people don't really care because its not their ride, and they are in a rush.
