Got my wheels put on yesterday

forgive the weather. Raining so hard it looks like snow in the first one.

The links don't work for me AND I can't see most of the images people tried to post to help - I can only see one of them - the rest are just boxes with red X's.

Rims look great. This is the first time I have seen an RDX with a front license plate. I know it's not a choice, but I think it detracts from the look of the car...

I stuck with the 18" X 8" rims and the Michelin Pilots. Will look at changing the tires down the road.

5Zigen Hyper 5ZR (Hyper Dark) 18" x 7.5"

Stayed with the OEM size and the Michelin Pilots for now. Looking at changing the tires out down the road. Just not too sure what I will go for as yer.

Thank you. Yes the front plate is not my cup of tea but no real choice up here. Don't like to give the Police a reason to look too hard.

I have had this personalized plate for some time now.

Could be something to do with individual settings on different computers as to why the links don't work or PBase issues.

Thanks for all of the help guys.

Nice looking rims... but I don't dig it for using it with the RDX. Those "Zigen" like wheels look more appropriate for cars like Civics, or cars typically "riced" up by younger folks...

Sorry, JMHO...

No need to apologize we all have our own thoughts and ideas. I saw many different styles and ultimately ended up staying with a 5 spoke design as are the OEM's. I can't stand the ones that came with the vehicle but there again JMHO.

While these particular wheels aren't my cup of tea either, I think their hard edges match the styling of the RDX better than the swoopiness and rounded edges of the stock wheels. I like the Acura sparkle wheels for that reason, but wish they were available in the 18" size (or that there was a 19" tire option that had more sidewall).

Yes I think the hard edge works better than the OEM's and as the Sparkle are $698.00 ea. plus new tires they weren't even in the equation vs $280.00 ea and allowing me to run the OEM tires.

You guys are a tough audience. I guess my wife and I have different tastes than the group on here.

Well one thing for sure, the response on here as to the look means I shouldn't run into any other RDX's with them on. I do like to be different and yes I do like them.

Were you quoted $700 ea. for just the wheels? Sparkle are available for a lot less than that via mail order. Check Curry Acura Parts and HondAcuraWorld for prices more along the lines of $336 to $360 ea. The fact that you then have to get new tires still adds a lot to that, though.

Sorry, I think they look nice.

My "not my cup of tea" comment was more about what I would choose for my car, not what I like looking at. And, to point out that there are things to like about these wheels even for someone who wouldn't choose them. Sometimes I find that I think "I don't like that" and then someone points out what works about it and later I start warming up to the thing. So, by pointing out that their hard edges work better than stock, others might see more to them.

This is the reason there are several dozen aftermarket styles for sale for every car out there...

Yes good point on the pricing, that was from Acura dealer but also I am up in Canada so would still be somewhat more by the time you got them here from Curry or hondacuraworld. Also the $280.00 each was an installed price, now just got to see what might be a better tire to run in the summer.

Hey that's okay I was just joking about the tough audience. As you say there is a vast assortment available and a vast assortment of tastes as well. I myself like my vehicles to look a little different than stock so I always get new wheels and of course wouldn't want everyone else liking and getting them or mine would no longer be different than the rest.

Thanks for your comments, always nice to hear a different viewpoint.

Where did you get your RDX from? Lougheed Acura? If yes, I am not sure what your experience was, but I found them to be really unfriendly and rude. Their service dept. is also typically quite "indifferent" to customer needs...

I ordered my RDX from Burrard Acura...and their service is much better...

I have been dealing with Lougheed Acura since I got my Vigor and many Acura's in between. I get along very well with the owner and he has always been great with me and is the only one who handles my transactions.

The service department always bends over backwards for me but then customer loyalty is something that is few and far between now a days and it shouldn't but probably does show sometimes.

I have had a Vigor (where I came up with my personalized plates), Integra 2 dr, Integra 4 dr, CL coupe (Bobtail), CL coupe type S, RSX type S, CL 4dr, 2 TSX's and now an RDX and over the years we have established quite a relationship. Yes I like Acura but it is the dealer that keeps me coming back. They know it and they prove it on every deal and on every service. I give them all my service and as a result get good service from them. They offer me a car every time even if it is only for an oil change. As a matter of fact I can be asked half a dozen times by half a dozen people if I need a car if I decide to wait.

I can test drive any vehicle anytime and no one even thinks twice nor do they ever ask to accompany me. I have had test drives for as long as 3 days. The first time I test drove the RDX they only had one Base and one Tech so I test drove the Base and said I would come back when they had a Tech available besides the one in the showroom. What did they do? Moved all the cars out of the showroom to get it out for me to test drive.

I recommend people to them and some buy and some don't. Some have a good experience and some don't feel they did. It always takes two to tango and sometimes you just can't dance together. Even my best friend didn't buy from them he bought from Langley Acura but he can be a chore to deal with as I know from past experience.

As I said earlier customer loyalty is something that many car companies and dealers don't see as much anymore and when they do they usually appreciate it.

I have leased my last 5 Acura's on 4 year leases, have never made it that far and my last 2 were only 14-16 month's. I am always been over by quite a bit on my mileage and have never paid a penny for being over, never do a down payment and always get a deal that I consider fair and it must to them as well.

I have heard Burrard Acura is quite good and Langley Acura is not bad either but sometimes the almighty dollar at the time of purchase or lease is enough to sour one on a deal at any dealership.

Do I know what Customer service is? I hope so I have been in Customer service for 28 years and have been a Customer Service Manager for the last 18 years.

I am glad you got a good deal with Burrard Acura and hope you get great service from them as well and have the opportunity to experience what I have over the years with Lougheed Acura.

I think your rims look waaaay better than the stockers.
Dont forget - if you went with silver sparkle rims you would also have to buy 19" tires......you did good.

Here's more pics:

Beware Plateless Who Park at LAX

I agree I like RDX much better without the front plate (as I do most cars). But it comes with a price.

Parked overnight at LAX last week (in the airport, not the C or D lot) and came back to a ticket for no front plate. Ironically it wasn't a fix it ticket - just pay $25 to LAPD who patrols the central parking areas. I was talking to a friend about this and he had the same experience. I had pulled head in tight to a cement wall so they are clearly patrolling for front plates. So the lesson is put your front plate on if you park in the central area at LAX.

You've been warned!

I've been given so many "fix it" tickets for no front plate in LA, I gave up a few years ago and leave it on now.

True but a new HD TV is higher on my priority list than 19" rims and tires but you are right it would look better.
