Got hit today - AARRGHH!!

Well folks, looks like it's my turn with a little bad luck. I got hit today by careless driver in Navigator turning without looking.

Here's the damage...The rear drivers door will not open, the rim seems damaged. You experts out there, it is really as bad as it looks?

Ouch...that sucks.

Looks like body damage is confined mostly to sheet metal so you may have lucked out there as it looks like the point of impact most likely did not cause frame damage. However, if he hit you hard enough to leave such large scuffs and scratches on your wheel, I am willing to bet there are some bent or damaged suspension pieces. Makes sure that when they get the car looked at, they check the suspension and make sure to get an alignment done as part of the repairs.

I noticed the scuff on the rim, too. If there is a bright side, maybe this is your chance to replace that Michelin.

It looks like the only damage was to his bumper cover which cracked and was hanging on one side.

Ouch! My RDX is in the shop right now. Fender needs to be replaced and so does the whole bumper. You need to look close to see my damage but it rings in at $1200. I feel for you, man do I. You'll get all fixed up new, but it all just sicks anyway on a new car.

I went to the insurance adjuster this morning...the initial estimate is $5800. It looks like the quarter panel, door, wheel, bumper cover and alot of other parts will be replaced. I think this number will be closer to $7000 once they remove the damage pieces and uncover what's not visible. It's also going to take about 2 weeks to fix...

Can anyone recommend any good honest reliable shops in the NYC area? (Queens or Brooklyn)

There was a big hole on the corner of his bumper where he hit me and they were trying to tie it back in place so it didn't drag.

Isn't there supposed to be a flap that hangs down in front of the rear tire from the body of the car? As shown here:

Looks to me like you may be missing it. See if you have it on the right rear of the vehicle. I'm too lazy to go out to my vehicle to see if it is there or not.....

The total was $5700 and change...I paid the $500 deductible. I haven't inquired about the equity loss yet, but will do so.

I know, Sasair pointed that out already...I spoke to the repair shop, they are going to put it on when I get a chance to go back there.
