Has anyone been promised a full refund for their Acura Extended Warranty if no claim was made during the life of the warranty?

I purchased an RDX back in 09 and bought their 5 year warranty after initially declining it and then being offered the deal I mentioned at the top by the financial guy.

I called the dealer up last year to try and get a refund and was told I would only get a prorated refund because it hasn't expired so I waited until this year.

Fast forward today and the guy is telling me he has never heard of such a thing and that people usually cancel to get a prorated refund or bring their car in before the warranty expires so that it may be checked out and if any issue is found, it would be fixed....

He took down my number and said he would have someone higher up in his department give me a call tomorrow. I seriously doubt they'll call me because I've been trying to get a hold of them for a month, left a few voicemails but never heard back. I was lucky to talk to someone today.

Was I tricked at purchase or is this guy trying to weasel out of the promise?

 

Unless this was specifically written in your contract, you're SOL. Never heard of full refund, only prorated refund.

I actually found the signed refund guaranteed form. Warranty is from Zurich and the refund administrator is NADS. I looked up NADS and it looks like they might be bankrupt but I received a call from the dealer today and they didn't mention anything about that...just told me to fax in my warranty contract letter with Zurich and letter from the bank saying my loan has been paid... hope they dont have me playing the wait, wait and call game after they submit the request.

Why you all keep buying these EW's is beyond explanation. A suckers bet invented by a sales manager designed with odds that favor the house.

 

It's an insurance policy that you only need when you need it. As Acura and other auto makers continue to put more and more electronics and sophistication in the vehicles, some feel more comfortable having it, not to mention there are those "Monday" or "Friday" cars.
