I think it is pretty lame to not have that function on my "tech" package. Or a remote ignition.

The link I posted is to another thread that discusses that the RDX does not have this feature.

My TSX had it, and I loved it. Did anybody notice the message at start up that says it is available? Liars.

I concur. How hard would it have been to add? I bet it's in there but disabled until a new model year.

The reason I think the remote power-opening windows may be already embedded is what does it take to add it? It seem to be a simple software change. It's in the other models. And I've worked on products where features were purposely taken out because some marketing person wants to "optimize product life." Trust me, it was most likely taken out because of marketing reason and it has nothing to do with cost or development time.

if I just was a little familar with the RDX electronics, like what processor and firmware storage, I would do the mods. I may not be a grease monkey but I'm a programming junkie.

The remote start is different story.

Yeah, it's totally a marketing thing. It might also be a little give-and-take...the RDX is a brand new car with unique performance...that's enough to sell on it's own. Gotta leave some incentives for their other models.

Canon dSLR cameras work on the same principle. The Digital Rebel ($1000) has exactly the same software that the more expensive 30D ($1600) camera does but Canon engineers disabled a lot of the functions. Some software nuts online were able to unlock these functions though, so anyone with a Rebel has practically the same feature list as the 30D.

What in the world is the purpose of remote power-opening windows? Who needs to open their windows before they are in the car?

Come to think of it you might have a point. But then a again on a hot day in chicago sometime you just want to open all the windows a fast a possible when you get into the car. Besides if the other cars have then maybe the RDX should have it. It may be a marketing thing where if you want it, then buy the MDX.

Trust me on this, an engineer will never purposely cripple a product he/she has been working on. It's almost always a marketing person who makes the desicion in doing that.

How many people would actually use remote ignition? It's a waste of gas, and gas is very $$$ now-a-days. I like the ability to lower the windows though.

When it's 110 outside, it could be 150 inside the car. It's nice to vent the extreme heat out before going inside the car. You don't event need to turn the AC on, as the hot air will always go up and out of the car on its own.

Once, it was 115 F in San Jose... one of the plastic transparent trim parts in my TSX dashboard snapped and became gray and dull. It was replaced under warranty.

The remote ignition would be for us in the snowbelt who want to warm our cars before hopping in and driving through the minus 30 degree weather.

It's convenient to be able to stand in the lobby of my office where I can see my car, press the button on the remote, and lower the windows without even going outside. I do it in the summer time about a half hour before I'm going to leave so it has a chance to cool down. I don't like to leave the windows down all day in case of a storm, birds, bugs, etc., but I like it cooled down a bit before I get in.

I don't think people are saying it's a "must-have" feature, but it's a nice luxury feature to have for those who use it.

This is a feature that has been in Japanese cars since around 1989. Nissan and Acura have had this. The RL even lets you open the sunroof from the remote!!

There is no reason a $37K car should not have it. Even if only in the "Tech Package" cars.

I received a phone call from "Acura Quality Control" or something like that, asking me about my delivery, sale, etc. At the end of the survey, they asked me for "comments". I brought up the window thing, the lack of power passenger seats, and the lack of memory seats/2 remotes/2 drivers.

He told me that "Everyone" was complaining about the memory seats, not many about the windows.

Spend a summer in Florida

This feature is great for those sunny florida days with temperatures in the upper 90's. You can open the windows as you walk towards your car, allowing the searing heat to escape before getting into the vehicle. The RDX does not get nearly as hot as my TL did, but it does still get quite hot in these conditions.

When I used to take the train to work and not park in a garage, it was very convenient to lower the windows and let the oven-heat out of my car on 90 degree days before I got to my TSX - quite a convenience. Necessity, no; nice touch, yes.

I've been snooping around considering the RDX. I like the overall package, but it looks like they're cheaping out on year 1 like they did with the 04 TSX (memory seats, XM, etc). But even the entry-level TSX has the remote window-down feature

Haha, that is very misleading. Obviously something they made while they were planning to have remote opening of windows. I'm surprised they still went ahead and put that on their website.

last i checked (3-4 days ago) it was there, and I thought, nice for acura to have included that...then i come on here and see these complaints..was confused for a bit. Usually these things can be enabled through the obd port at the dealer

Can we complain to Acura about false advertising? It doesn't say in the website that it has this feature (it just shows it) and so far the only place I've read that it has this feature is in the feature guide on the nav screen. If this feature has been built into the RDX but disabled by the factory, I think the mixed messages deserve some clarification by Acura and definately a fix for all of us confused RDX owners that want this feature.

I thought I read about this feature being available for the RDX and you're right the Nav feature guide is where I read about it. It's was one of those daily feature messages. So I could be right about being built-in but not being enabled.

If we, owners of RDX, all get together and sign a petition of some sort????
I am more than willing to participate. At least we can say, at the end of the day, we have tried.

Are you sure it's not there? I agree, it seems odd they would advertise it AND even have it on the nav list, but not have it on the vehicle for real. Are you guys pressing the door unlock button once, then on the second press just hold it down till the windows go down? Even the first year TSX has this feature so I'd assume it would be on the first year RDX.

I was thinking this too, but then I thought surely if it was there that someone would have been able to make it work by now and posted about it.

I tried with my remote so many times I think I better go replace the batteries...

I also tried tried sticking fuses in the the open fuse sockets praying it would be just that simple, but no luck. It'll probably be something that will be programmed into the MID down the road.

Another thing, is does anyone remember if the Navi also stated that there was a 2 profile memory seat. How do you reset the navi messages?
